I have not received any myself but if I did I would be inclined to take up quilting. I did some many many years ago and it is a great hobby with a beautiful outcome.

LaurenCook you can't really do quilting by sewing machine, or maybe you can these days, but I only ever did it by hand as you have to fold the material around a six sided template.

I'm using some to make little hand warmers, you can fill them with rice and put them in the microwave!

LaurenCook yeah! I'm not sure how well it lasts, I used flax seeds when I made some years ago and they've lasted well but I know that many DIY ones say you can use uncooked rice, and optionally add some essential oil!

dholly39 A lovely idea. I've never thought about making these - I don't suppose they take up much fabric either? Do you follow a pattern

I think the trick is to choose colours/fabric carefully from the free samples and, if possible, choose the ones that compliment each other. (I make that point because it is so easy to pick faux fur, metallic knit and a cashmere and find that you are limited in what you can do with them..... although I did make a mini pair of Father Christmas fur-topped boots πŸ˜† ) I've make mini quilts for friends' cat/dog baskets, pastel coloured tooth-fairy pillows, leather earrings, scented drawer pouches and, lately, face masks. The possibilities are endless.

Our local WI has been making face masks for key workers which I think is a great idea. My sister is learning my nephew to sew on an old Singer seeing machine!
