Would You Let Your Partner Cut Your Hair?

Ask a Question

How often do you need a hair cut? I know some people who visit their barbers every 3-4 weeks, and some visit the salon every other month (more one-off visits if thereโ€™s a special occasion)

So now everyone is stuck indoors, the only option is to do it yourself, or let another person do it - preferably someone who has steady hands

would you let your partner cut your hair?

What do you think of this?

I trim my fringe myself anyway. I always cut my partners hair and I used to cut my Dads also that of son and daughter until they left school, my ex never trusted me. I offered to cut my partners sons, get his cut every 3 weeks, the answer ended in off. I'm not a hairdresser

I used to allow my late fiancรฉe who was a qualified hair dresser to cut my hair, I would cut her hair too. I am not qualified but had been cutting my own hair since about the age of six or seven, I can still remember my mother's voice when I first did it almost screamingly: "What are you doing with the kitchen scissors and what have you done!" I can still remember my answer too: "I wanted to make a paintbrush".

davidstockport What were you planning on painting? Have to admit partner has trimmer but the others I used comb and scissors, no pudding basin look, daughter only got a trim as it was down to her knees.

lilyflower I can't remember what I was planning on painting but it might have been the cat. I wasn't a naughty child just "over helpful".

I did, this week, for the first time ever, with a trimmer.

I now look moth-eaten above each ear!

Oh well, my wife will get the hang of it eventually, and we had a good laugh about it.

Johnny hot tip:

Do not let your partner try to correct their first mistakes with your hair, by cutting even more off!

Lol I suppose instinctively youโ€™d want to cut more off to even it out...but then I can only imagine the further damage it caused ๐Ÿ˜‚ Hope it grows out soon

I gave OH a cut a couple of weeks ago. He was desperate so there really was no choice. I used a trimmer, very, very carefully, We couldn't believe how much hair was on the floor at the end and he was right 'it'll grow'. Would I let him cut mine? No way! ๐Ÿ˜†

I would have no problem letting my husband cut my hair and he would let me cut his as well. It wouldn't be as good as the hairdresser doing it but when needs must then it's fine. I don't cut my hair cut often so I'm not worried about it.

I gave my own hair a trim this week, but thats not new to me as iv done it before only this time it resulted in a new fringe. I'd been thinking about getting one cut back in for a while & had a moment while the scissors were in my hand of 'ah just do it'. I'm quite pleased with it actually.

Glitterandgold I'm happy to do the same - I took 8cms off my own hair three weeks ago and it felt good. I just couldn't trust someone who can't judge measurement by eye. lol

angemski For me, it started off with dyeing my hair myself at home because the cost was becoming too much, it was costing near ยฃ40 each time I went to my hairdresser for a cut & colour, as I was getting more & more grey roots I needed to go more often.... then when the lady who cut my hair left the salon I started trimming/cutting & thinning my own hair myself too. My hair now costs me a couple quid every 4-6 weeks for a box dye. Saved myself a fortune!. I do sometimes ask my sister to tidy the back up but don't always need to.

Glitterandgold I've definitely done the same when a hairdresser has gone to work elsewhere. There's a lot of 'trust' between stylist and customer and it's really hard when you have to find a new one. With the current circumstances I've decided to let it go over my head - I can't worry about how strange my hair looks. I went down the platinum road last Summer and I've loved it...... until the lockdown. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I am naturally pale blonde but the roots are now 3 months growth. It's not a good look!

I would and asked him but he refused thinking he will mess it up. I'm not precious about my hair so wouldn't be too upset if he messed it up.

Yes. I let my husband cut hair since I had a bad cut a few years ago and it cost rather a lot. My hair style was a simple bob with a fringe. The hairdresser didnโ€™t cut it evenly and just made it look right by tonging it under. Iโ€™ve not returned since and saved ยฃ30 to ยฃ50 each quarter.

I trimmed my husband's beard and hair with a trimmer and he dyed my hair. Both of us did a good job ๐Ÿ‘

nope. I will do it myself if I really had to. And I don't think I would want the burden of doing someone else's just in case I make a mess

I'm not really fussed anymore.

My hair grows really quick, so I need to get it cut every 4 weeks or so.

Luckily, I bought some Wahl clippers about 6 months ago because they were a super duper deal. I have had the wife do my hair and she's decided that I'm to have a mohican until the lockdown is over ๐Ÿ˜†

I gave my partner a skin head because i messed up the cut. Ive asked and so close to actually letting him give me a skin head too. Apart from dyeing it i never do anything with my hair and if i wanted hair for an event i could wear a wig

I've always cut my hair myself or my husband does it. I have long hair so just put it up in a ponytail and then lop the ponytail off. Easy.
