Man 'Caught with Crossbow' at Windsor Castle Said 'I Am Here to Kill the Queen'

In the News

I know not everyone is a fan of the Royal family, I personal have a great respect for the Queen and was delighted that she was able to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee, not just for the extra bank holiday😊

I do vaguely remember the news story about someone getting into the grounds of Windsor Castle, but didn't realise until reading this, that he had manage to get a line of sight on the Queen's apartment, whilst she was in residence.

I suppose it's not as bad as when Michael Fagan, came face to face with the Queen in her bedroom when he broke into Buckingham Palace, in 1982, although thankfully he didn't go there to kill her.

Blimey this is scary. I think if I was in the public eye I would be really paranoid about weird folk.

SaveMeSunday It makes you think, how many incidents we never get to hear about it.

I am sick to death of people who weren't even born when the events they seek revenge/reparation for actually took place. Do they think their violent or intimidating actions will get them what they want? I don't even agree with apologising for things our ancestors did as it was different times and we now know better. But then he looks a bit of a nutter although savvy enough to give an explanation for his actions!

Lynibis I agree, you can't rewrite or erase history, if you do you don't learn from the past. If you look back in history at different times in history different nations have been in ascendancy. But you don't hear anyone asking the Spanish, Dutch or French to apologise for their colonies.

How far do people want to go back?

The Vikings, the Romans maybe the Mongol Empire.

We should just acknowledged they were less enlighten times and move one.

Lynibis The British Empire was evil as was the Roman empire and pretty much all empires that took land by force and had slaves etc but there are more slaves today than in the past across Africa and Asia its not a past problem and many of these people focus on past empires rather than actively trying to sort out those problems that still exist. When the British Empire got slaves many were purchased from African slave markets and many of those still exist today or existed up to fairly modern times. Slavery is still a huge issue. Why focus on past crimes where the perpetrators are long dead when there are real problems today that need addressing.

There are tens of millions of slaves in the world today certainly far more than the past, yes as a percentage of the population far less but a much larger number of people enslaved.

A huge number of people in the world are Muslim and Mohammed bought, sold and kept slaves so its no surprise slavery is at its highest in Islamic countries typically although there are plenty of exceptions to that.

When you look around the world there is still a huge amount of religious brain washing ending up with people that simply aren't rational.

The one thing you learn as you get older is people tend to look for someone else to blame rather than look at themselves. I see that everywhere across all societies. The societies that prosper seem to be those societies that are actually more truthful about themselves.

I don't understand people that try to kill others because of anger towards an event etc. Look at what happened to Salman Rushdie because someone disagreed with his book. I just don't get why you would think it was worth killing over.
