Members Abusing a Glitch and Multiple Ordering

Feedback

Hi, I sent a private message to you some time ago, but didn't get a reply, so now posting here. Some time ago, there was a glitch on Barry M nail varnish from Superdrug. Some greedy people then ordered 20+ bottles whilst others ordering only 1 did not receive them as there was only a limited quantity. When I tried to post about "playing fair", I was abused and sworn at - not acceptable. Other sites remove members who abuse their rules. I can't see anything in your guide about this, but you must know this is going on. Again, abusing and swearing at other members, surely these people should not be allowed to do so and remain in this group.

I saw similar - when Gillette were giving away razors especially made for people with mobility issues, disabilities etc (eg - you should be a carer, or need a carer to apply). People were applying then laughing in the comments that they didn’t need them but got them ‘just because they are free’ - then they ran out and people who genuinely could have used them couldn’t get them. Gillette sent out surveys for feedback from those who received them, and paid £21 for them to be completed - again, people laughing in the comments about having to ‘make up’ a ‘disabled‘ person to get their money and laughing about how ‘bad’ they made their imaginary person sound. A couple of people - myself included - commented that they should not be making things up to get freebies that they don’t even need / won’t use and taking them from people who they would genuinely help and then laughing about disabled people, we were abused and sworn at and I even received an abusive private message. I was shocked that LFS didn’t at least turn off commenting for the post, or make some effort to tell members that this is not a nice / honest way to behave on their site.

So agree with you. Totally shocked that LFS made no effort at all to support members who were so abused. By not doing anything when this happens, it is tantamount to condoning this behaviour. Deepak, you need to know what is happening on your site. If I am abused by other members and you or Tom do nothing, then you will lose those members who supported you in helping to form LFS.

Hi mischander sorry to hear other members of LD may have been abusive towards you - and apologies if no-one has replied to your messages sent to us (was this via the contact form?).

Just to help us track things down, did this occur on the LD facebook page, group or on this website?

We're a very small team and over the Christmas period we are - unfortunately - not able to provide very quick responses and, as most of our moderators on the website and Facebook are very generous volunteers they understandably have less time during the holidays.

We will in the next few days be catching up on messages and replying to everyone we haven't been able to get back to over Christmas.

You did the right thing in messaging us privately via the contact us form but if it is an urgent matter you can also try tagging one of us - me, Tom or Deepak on the website and we can try and resolve the issue that way.

We pride ourselves at LD for being a friendly community and have a set of guidelines encouraging everyone to be helpful and only constructively critical. Apologies once again if abusive behaviour has slipped through the net this time - it's something we actively discourage at LD.

GirlieWhirlie Thanks for sharing could you possibly email us a link to the specific facebook post so we can have a look? I've failed miserably trying to hunt it down! 🙂

Kelsey Screenshots of posts sent in Messenger dated 23rd November, so a long time ago! I did tag Tom who apologised but didn't follow up original posts abusing me. Really think these abusers should be removed from your group re. Member guideline. Screenshot above sent by GirlieWhirlie was one of the posts sent to me (Honey Anderson) on Facebook page. Look forward to your reply.

Hi Kelsey just checked on this and there were none reported posts re Barry M on the group at that time that I recall. It is on the LD fb page.. members were tagging ADMIN without any names being tagged, however we are not to know as it was on the page and not the group.

I think it is also a bit of luck. I did not get this one....I am wondering how Superdrug can decide who gets the glitch and who not? .... The guys just post these deals, all on the company if they actually give it to us or not...

So it's not just me that has sarcastic comments when something you posted doesn't suit that person? I've also noticed that the ones that complain don't post anything, or have only posted a few deals. I've ignored a couple of members, because I got the feeling they were trying to cause trouble.

I have learnt to grow a 'thicker skin' since moderating the social media and web pages. We all try out best to keep an eye on things, but sometimes some Members overstep the mark. I think on the whole most are happy, friendly and appreciative of the opportunity to share and banter about free stuff and deals.

If anyone does see anything upsetting tag one of the team and we can take action. 💖 😍

Agree... the group is 99% well behaved. What the OP is referring to here is what happened on the LD FB page and not on the group! 🙂 so us mods couldn't really control this.

Hi Mentors, Still waiting for a reply from any of you re. my posts. So if the abuse happened on the LD FB page, is it not controlled by anyone? You mention 'if anyone does see anything upsetting, tag any one of the team so we can take action'

I sent 2 private messages and an email November and these have still not been acknowledged! So, if anyone is abusive on the LD FB page, this is allowed to go unchecked?

Morning mischander apologies we haven't replied - we have looked into this and reiterated the rules in the group and on the page to remind everyone to be nice. The page is public and is a little more difficult to moderate than the group where we can control who is/isn't in. As a first port of call, we'd always suggest using Facebook's block feature to remove unsavoury people! We will of course keep an eye out ourselves and try to remove comments that are unacceptable but, while we can promise to do that on the LD website, we aren’t able to guarantee it on social media.

Unfortunately due to the sheer volume of messages we receive we no longer actively monitor our Facebook inbox and instead provide an automated reply. This is our bad, as we need to update the message to be a lot more obvious that this is the case.

Having directed everyone from Facebook to email we're also experiencing a few growing pains with handling the number of emails we're getting 😞 It's no excuse - and my genuine apologies again - a plan is in the pipeline to improve this so we don't lose track of emails and can organise between us who hasn't and hasn't handled each query.

By way of apology I've awarded you some bonus points on LD. This doesn't make up for our slow response to you in this instance but hopefully demonstrates we mean well even if we're a bit sluggish at the moment!

Thank you for your reply and the bonus points Kelsey. My initial reason for posting was when a glitch was posted on the LD Facebook page and some members boasted about ordering multiple amounts, so depriving others who only wanted to order 1 item. When I commented that this wasn't fair to all members, I was then abused and sworn at.

The members names were in the above posts which have been edited to remove swear words, so every reason to remove them from the group. That is what other groups do.

Again, why not ban those members who openly order multiple items on glitches when there are only so many items available, or post member guidelines against so doing, leading to removal from the group?
