Do You Miss the Home You Grew up In?

Ask a Question

Are you still in the home you grew up or have you moved away? Would you want to visit your old home if your not in it anymore?

I certainly don’t miss my childhood home. No central heating and ice on the windows inside.

We moved around quite a bit so no, not my home, but my grandparents home was lovely and if I had the money I would buy that and live there!

Yes I do, when I'm in the area I always pass my mum's old house, lots of good and bad memories in that house

I don't miss the home l grew up in but l would love to go back and look around the homes and areas to see how much they have changed, l also don't really call my past home, home anymore, l don't really feel anywhere is home to me anymore and that makes me feel sad 😞

Pinkspirit I still visit the area where I grew up as my husband’s family still live there. I’m glad I’m not there anymore, it’s really changed over the years.

Yes I do. Had a lovely garden but love where I am now. Neighbours direct yk me are proper weird. I'm weird and they are very weird. Rest are actually nice and we get on well. Miss the neighbour I had pior to the ones I've now more then my old house. During lockdown we were a right community. They were shielding and as we shared outside spaced we swapped food and I brought stuff home from school for them like laptops as I worked at the kids school

JLouM This is exactly like my husband family home. It has been in the family for over 80years. I think it’s lovely.

Never really had a long term family home as it was just me and dad until he remarried when I was 10. We moved a lot but longest time was a couple of years in Bury St. Edmunds. Went to a girls' school and loved the town but can barely remember the house.

We were a navy family so moved around every few years - although generally between Portsmouth and Plymouth. No attached to any particular home - but Portsmouth is my real home - despite living in Plymouth for nearly 50 years now

I’m 55 and have lived in the same house since I was two months old. It was a council house - as I live in Stratford on Avon house prices have always been high and we couldn’t get a ‘council house’. So we bought mums house and put a granny flat on the side. Sadly my mum got cancer - but because we had done that it meant she could stay in the home she loved but still have the knowledge i was really close by. We had walky talkies in case she needed me. The thought of ever moving terrifies me !

I still live near my childhood home but rarely see it. Growing up we had large fields front & back to the property. Lots of great memories roaming about with the kids on our street/ estate. Sadly they have built housing estates on both the fields in recent years, so whilst I still drive past frequently I never 'see' my childhood home anymore. My OH mum still lives in his childhood home.

My parents still live in the house I grew up in. We go there at least once a month. My son loves their house and loves playing in the garden.

MrsCraig That must be really lovely to be able to actually show your son where you grew up. I have shown my children the outside of the house I grew up in but it has changed so not quite the same as going in.

eyeballkerry he lived there for 6 weeks whilst we were waiting for our new house to be ready. He thought it was brilliant. The neighbours are the same ones from when I was little. There is a farm and he is allowed to go visit the animals whenever he wants.
