Millions more workers have been forced onto furlough as a result of new lockdown restrictions - with ministers in talks to extend 'tier five' measures until March, and potentially Easter.

Under new rules introduced on January 4, non-essential shops, restaurants, gyms and more must stay closed, with schools also shut to help curb the latest Covid-19 outbreak.

It means many workers are facing months of income cuts - while hospitality staff could be out of work until May due to fears over social distancing.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is reportedly in talks to tighten lockdown restrictions even further.
