Nectar Points
Ask a Question
I know they have a number of partners .. I'm thinking of spending my accumulated points on eBay as a voucher .. how do you like to spend your nectar points?
I usually save them for the double up in store promotion they do, but last year they didn’t really have anything I wanted so I’m just saving them still right now. I’ve considered using them on eBay too though. I collect quite a few points that way anyway!
Love that you can spend them on eBay and although I haven’t spent any yet I think I’ll likely do the same
I always save mine for double up which is usually in November, there's always something to spend them on in store, I usually buy Christmas and Birthday presents.
We have been saving ours for years, until Thursday when some kind soul hacked our account, they used all the points we had saved and left us with -£745.41 in our account. To their credit Nectar have cancelled the card are refunding the points and giving us 2000 extra points.
Beezyruth OmG I'm so glad they gave you all your points back after they were stolen off you
Beezyruth so glad that you got the points back. Your comment serves as a warning to others that there is a risk saving them up for too long.
I save the nectar points then spend them in Argos. I rarely shop in Sainsbury’s now and can’t get a delivery slot as I’m not vulnerable.
I save mine up during the year and then use them to buy groceries such as tinned food, biscuits, etc and send them to elderly relatives in Zimbabwe. This way we all get to enjoy Xmas.
Good morning dear Nadiaparveen I just seen this topic it’s been ages did’t use my nectar card always forget. my son do use his nectar card mostly buying things from eBay. have a good day
I save mine up and either use them on a food shop in Sainsbury or to get stuff we need from Argos. Last time I used them was for food in Sainsbury and some toys from Argos for my sons birthday. I would love to be able to spend them on Sainsbury clothing.
Nectar points used to be really good but I tend not to shop at Sainsburys due to being more expensive.
Because I do a lot of things to earn nectar points I normally use the points to put fuel in my car .
I mostly shop at Sainsbury’s as it is the safest place at the moment. They have had lots of ways to boost points lately and I used a lot in the double up. That was quite a hassle. I generally spend them in Sainsbury’s.
I'm making more use of my Nectar card/account to gain points, but it's still nowhere near as good as actual cashback.
500 points could be at least £3.50.
I build up Nectar points by entering the The Mail daily codes. Then I convert the points for M&S vouchers.
Pjran I've seen the mail offer a few times, it looks good but I don't usually buy it. Do you think its worth it?
Midnightflower Not for the points (5 points per day) -100 papers = £2.50 . But if you read the Mail anyway might as well enter the numbers .
I got my nectar points through shopping at Argos and spend it on Argos goods. Value for money, I think.
Normally you need to spend £500 to get £2.50 worth of Nectar Points - so worth 0.5% . Better than a kick in the teeth , but no reason to actively search out a Nectar "partner" . It is ,however worth keeping an eye out for when EBay (as they often do ) run a promotion giving 7x , 10x or even 20x Nectar points for a limited time . Then we are talking 3.5% -10% cashback effectively -Well worth having . Sainsburys also do Nectar offers - but nothing earth shattering .
When I spot these offers I will post them so members can take advantage .
Nectar is doing "Count up to Christmas" and claiming the points is really easy.
E.g. Three purchases (separate days) at Sainsbury's gets you 300 points. I tried paying two items individually, but it recognized as a single purchase.
Update: That actually worked. Nectar app just notified me.
PhilipMarc Everyone's target is different. Mine is shop 6 times between now and 31st for 300 then I had another target of 1000 points for a bonus 100 then target 2 is 2000 for 200 and 3000 for 300 and 4000 for 500!
emmabeckz I'm just 278 points away from completing the 2nd target. Maybe the 300 points I'm getting in November will count for this.
PhilipMarc I boosted mine with the Nectar offers for extra points and I think the first target 100 points bonus reward counted towards my 2nd target too
i know it’s still too early for many to talk Christmas but in the past there were double offers. You could exchange £5 of points and get £10 voucher, do you know if this will happen this year please?
Nectar are giving 3k+ points (£15) when you purchase a PC/Laptop worth £250 or more, and I found one around that price tag, but the reviews aren't very good.
www.argos.co.uk/product/4461054?clickSR=slp%3Aterm%3Alaptop%20windows%3A76%3A596%3A1
Their main complaint is that the laptop is slow and adequate only for "simple" programs, and personal use than business-wise.
Won't post it as a deal, but I'll leave it here.
I save my nectar points all year then use them at Sainsburys half price toy sale to get the stocking stuff for my grandkids for Xmas. I usually have about £100 worth of points but as I’ve cut down on shopping I only have around £60 worth this year.
reannsgran did you know you can also earn them at Argos and eBay? They have bonus points offers throughout the year as well so worth linking your card to your account
emmabeckz yes I have both eBay and argos linked to my nectar card but I really have cut back on ALOT of buying this year. Thanks for asking though.
reannsgran hopefully you’ll get some great bits on Wednesday in the toy sale then
I'm currently saving my nectar points but haven't a clue what to spend them on. I only just found out recently that you can spend these in a variety of places so I'm even more confused don't get me wrong I've only got £53 saved so it's not like I'm leaving the country anytime soon. 🏖
emmabeckz That's a shame considering this is the final challenge.
Still, if you buy in store and buy three separately then it counts towards it.
PhilipMarc I had the make one purchase too, so I’ve now completed the challenge and got a stack load of points
Only slightly makes up for their rubbish Smartshop app not working and missing out on Nectar prices
I spend mine in Argos. My Nectar card is a God send for getting extra points for food purchased.
if you use healthy start, you can get a £2 voucher for fruits and vegetables so it's worth it if you shop at saindsburys and you have both nectar and healthy start
