New Website Idea Relating to the Generated Thanks Messages
Competitions
Someone recently mentioned that they find it time consuming going through loads of generated thanks messages on their competition posts. I have had a good think about this and have come up with what I reckon would be a good idea.
I was thinking that when someone clicks on the 'Thanks' button we get notified that someone thanked our post instead of commented. But if someone manually comments then we get notified that someone commented.
That seems like a good idea - I always thank or comment when I enter a competition as I think it is nice to acknowledge that someone has gone to the effort of finding and posting something, but perhaps some people find it annoying to see a long list on their notifications .. Are other poster's happy to be thanked/commented on or are some of them not bothered, in which case maybe there could be a tab selected when posting something that takes away the generic 'thanks' or even comment option?
I wrote about this RC90 and I think that is a brilliant idea. And you are right Jamala, it is nice to be thanked but it is just a click and so much nicer if someone feels the urge to write something interesting. I never click thanks but often comment on a good comp or something I know, even a kind criticism. I think we all know this is reciprocal and all benefit one way or another.
One thought I had was highlighting the auto-generated comments in a different colour to the comments people have taken time to type, then you could easily skim through them.
Hey RegularComper90 thanks for the suggestion!
Makes a lot of sense to me. I'll investigate to see how easy it would be to switch up the notifications to differentiate between a thanks and a comment
