New Year Plans

Ask a Question

What is everyone planning to do this year for New Year. I can imagine most will still be in Tier 3!

With about 99% of the UK in lockdown I doubt there will be any celebrations anywhere other than in Cornwall, Scilly Isles & The Isle of Wight.

The same as last year, put my son to bed and then go to bed afterwards! The only reason I will be awake at midnight is if my son wakes up! I don't bother with New Year. I've never been to a New Years party etc, I just watch the telly, watch the fireworks from my kitchen window if I'm still awake and then go to bed. I don't really see the big deal about hogmanay.

I am exactly the same. New year's eve is the same as any night for me. I must say I am surprised at your comment as I know you Scots are supposed to set great store by hogmanay, even more than Christmas. At least that's what us Sassenachs are led to believe lol.

Lynibis us Scots do indeed set great store by hogmanay, it is a very big deal here. I grew up in the countryside so unless you went to one of the 9 neighbours or walked a mile and half to the nearest pub you spent hogmanay at home. My parents never bothered with hogmanay and most years now they spend it abroad. I am probably in the minority of those who don't celebrate hogmanay. Even before my son was born we never bothered with it.

MrsCraig Iโ€™m exactly the same. I just donโ€™t see the fuss. Maybe a wee movie night for us and in bed for 10.pm x

Lynibis I spent one New Year in Scotland with a boyfriend (he was Scottish) and it was the biggest let down, few drinks in the golf club, saw in the New Year, home. Had more fun English side of the Border.

Lynibis To come to think of it, I think the kitchen is the most dangerous room in my house. All of those pesky little calories that like to shrink your clothes seem to enjoy lurking in the kitchen.

My wife wants to go to her parents to see her brother, sister and nieces, but it's not allowed atm because we're only allowed 3 households in Wales.

I doubt whether it'll change by the new year. Will probably get more restrictive tbh.

So it's going to be me, my wife and the woofer watching a film, eating good food and getting drunk.

Anyone who has family around outside the guidelines (LAW) are just being selfish imo

I cant decide to either go the fireworks in London or go to Time square and maybe enjoy breakfast in Tiffanys followed by a weekend at Bernies with the invisible man .

Probably a small buffet, than try and stay awake until the Hootananny comes on.

If that fails being jerked awake by the fireworks.
