Night Buses Have Become Free Buses

Other

I’ve not had to take a night bus in London for a long time, but when I had to take one earlier this week, I noticed a few strange looks as I tapped in my card to pay...and it soon became apparent the strange looks was because that I had bothered to pay, as every single passenger who got on at stops after mine did not pay, with some muttering excuses to the driver about only needing it for a few stops

so at some point the night buses in London have become free buses

It's only meant to be free on New Years Day. It looks like you were the only honest person on the bus. Fare dodging is a big problem on TFL buses and from this year people should be only entering at the front of the 'new' Routemaster buses -

You’ll no longer be able to hop on a New Routemaster through the back or middle doors. You’ll have to walk past the driver and beep in, just like on every other bus - https://www.timeout.com/london/news/big-bus-news-you-wont-be-able-to-board-new-routemasters-in-the-middle-or-at-the-back-any-more-011020

Although, I'm sure the people that currently don't pay will also ignore this rule change 🚍

Lol yes I read about it recently, which completely makes the point of the new routemasters redundant. The free joy riders will continue to ride without a care in the world

they had this issue with the bendy buses that were around previously, and they probably never will sort it out completely
