Djokovic firstly pays tribute to Nadal's comeback from injury.

"I would like to return the favour (to Nadal). You were unfortunate throughout your career to go through some major injuries," said the world No.1.

"You are the definition of fighting spirit and resilience."

Then, reflecting on his own journey, Djokovic said: "Sorry I’m just trying to contemplate on the journey over the last 12 months.

"I had the (elbow) surgery exactly 12 months ago.

"Three out of four slams is truly amazing. I am speechless."

Nadal pays tribute to the triumphant Djokovic: "It was an amazing level of tennis tonight. Well done for everything.

"Even if tonight wasn't my best day ... it has been a very important two weeks for me. I have been going through tough events.

"I really believe that I played a good two weeks of tennis.

"I'm going to keep fighting hard. I'm going to keep working hard.

"This tournament has been tough for me in terms of injuries, in terms of opponents - tonight (for example)!"
