Am I the Only One Who Thinks That Slimfast is a Pointless Money Making Gimmick?

Other

Title says it all really. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have always believed that all you have to do to lose weight is to eat less and move more. This is what I have been doing this past 10 weeks and have been losing an average of 2 lbs a week, without any of these supplements which supposedly help you to lose weight.

The problem is that these companies tap into our vulnerable side when they really could be saying 'eat less, exercise a little more then the weight you lose will stay off. I bought the Tesco version a few years ago and they worked to shrink the stomach and lessen the expectation of food, in the short term, but they don't work in the long term. I am definitely in favour of a portion control, sensible eating plan with nothing banned - just some things in much smaller quantities. Well done on your weight loss.

I dont believe they in them, is it really healthy to have a milkshake instead of a meal? What are you doing to lose weight?

It can't really do you much good in the long run. How are you supposed to get used to eating smaller portions of food if you are going to consume milkshakes instead? Whilst dieting, your goal isn't just to lose weight but to actually keep the weight off.

I don't agree with them either. Diet and exercise are what's important when it comes to weight loss. The problem is these companies know that people will buy them as they are a quick fix, rather than lose the weight gradually. Plus, I've noticed it is always relatively slim people in the adverts!

Sweeteners are supposedly worse than sugar as they trick your brain into thinking it's getting sugar and when the brain doesn't get that sugar it craves it even more so. They've also been linked to causing diabetes, whether this is true or not I'm not sure ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I've cut out unhealthy fats from my diet and added more fruit and veg. I eat a lot of rice and mixed veg etc at the moment because i like it. I have lost almost 2 stone in 7 weeks. Im also more active though due to illness it isnt as active as i would like to be. I will say since starting along this path my mental health has also improved, which is a huge plus for me.

Yes totally agree with you. It's a complete short-term fix. Similar to fasting diets or detoxing really. I would never try it personally as I want to lose weight and keep it off. Easier said than done though ๐Ÿ˜†
