Get Paid For Recycling

Ask a Question

Iv started using an app called Bower. (im on iphone) you get 1p for each thing you recycle. A max of £1.60 a month. You just scan the item and register your recycling bin as the dropping point. Does anyone know of any other apps that offer payment for recycling?

This sounds great. Never heard of it before. Will check it out now. Unfortunately I don’t know any others like this but if I find any I’ll make sure to add it to this chat.

I’m not sure it’s worth my while but I certainly recycle daily, compost and up cycle.

£1.60 a month lol 🤣😆😜 . Would be better if we could have vouchers at Tesco or netflix or something like that but not for £1.60 cost us more in petrol. It's definitely a great idea as we would see less litter on the street as that was part of my job collecting rubbish 😞😭😞😭 and could off been a millionaire by now

Pfs maybe a rubbish reward for you but for those are on low incomes any extra helps. I've been there living paycheck to paycheck and yeah every extra penny helped. I can get milk with that or some carrots

Pfs You can use your normal home recycling, so no petrol needed.

If I'm recycling it anyway it only takes 2 seconds to pick up my phone and scan.

There are different deals and vouchers and you can donate it to charity, I'm sure they'd appreciate it. I think they recently introduced more points for certain products.

This Country Is so behind the times. In The Netherlands for example at Lidls you take your old plastic bottles, Cans and get paid for depositing them. I believe In Scotland there are three waste stations too paying 10p each to a max of £2.50 on each visit. You deposit them and they give you a voucher to use at the till. Different Government up there.

Emerge11 There used to be recycling points in Tesco car parks, where you got paid to deposit bottles and cans and it got added to your Tesco reward card. Everytime I went there was usually an issue though, wouldn't know if this is down to the systems, or people adding stuff they shouldn't or maybe even vandalism. Certain things and systems could work great if people didn't vandalise or misuse things. And I'd say I'm in a fairly good area compared to some places.

DeBunny Where I live they have taken them away from the main Tesco Superstore. Shame really: A spokesman from the supermarket giant said: “Unfortunately, due to persistently high levels of fly-tipping and improper use, we’ve had to remove the recycling facilities.

Good find, this is a no brainer really since most of us probably recycle, at least a bit. £1.60 isn’t earth shattering but it all adds up

I've been doing this for some time now, it helps, better than nothing! 40p if you refer someone and they do it too!

You can register your home bins and the shops carrier bag ones etc.

You can also donate it if preferred or use them on vouchers.

It is only 1p per unique barcode a day though and your items have to have a barcode.

So if you have 3 orange juice cartons, 2 apple juice and 1 soda can, if the cartons have the same barcode per flavour, you'd only get 3p for those 5 items. And most can multipacks of cans aren't individually barcoded, so just something to know. You can get those missing points on another day, but you have to scan them on the different day. (I hope that makes sense!)

Let's say a person does that for a year, it's £19.20. It's not bad, but the whole scanning an item... No.

I'm not a fan of having to use grocery shopping apps unless it actually has some good savings and so on. The Lidl app tends to be pretty good, admittedly, and I rejoined because of it.

hoii do you mean you’ve scanned your packages and you’ve not been awarded the points yet?

Have you clicked on the bag and gone to the next stage of recycling?
