What Are People's Thoughts on the New 'Fallout' TV Show?

Other

Did you play the games previously? I'm a huge fan of the Fallout games, well 3 of them anyway; Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4. It's great to see it made into a TV series and has a British actress as the main star. I've watched the first episode and I'm partially through the second episode. So far seems to have great production values and effects, the violence level is very high and it does somewhat trivialise the violence like the original games. However so far it seems very good but then I wonder if my love of the Fallout games makes it more interesting to me. I wonder what people think who have never played the games?

I have not watched it yet, however I watch my other half play the game, my son loves the game too. He was excited when he realised they were making a series, he has binge watched it and seems overall happy with the series, he's 13 and a serious tv critic 😅🤣x

Watched the first episode and didn't finish the rest.

The main reason is due to the actress/character of Lucy, it was a chore to watch her parts. Maximus character was better and Walton Goggins' character was my favorite, but I'm just not going to go through it just to see Goggins.

What the hell is with that acting.

PhilipMarc I really can't see a problem with her acting, she is meant to act in a way representing the sheltered and naïve lifestyle of living in a vault and then coming out into the real world. I actually thought Maximus was worse as his acting seemed to a bit strange at times not really fitting the moment but agree Walton Goggins has the best character to watch i.e. violence except he is a bit too violent and soul less but I guess that is the point of a ghoul.

The series seems to have done exceptionally well with very high reviews, huge viewing figures and has already got the go ahead for a second season so its all positive. Looks like this could be a huge TV franchise over the coming years if it continues that way which likely means Bethesda will hopefully make more Fallout games too.

We’ve never played the game but finished watching it recently. We just found it ‘meh’.

Much preferred Arcane for a game-to-tv-show-series.

snoogans888 The Last of Us was far better of a TV show and I can't wait for it to be back for its Season 2.

PhilipMarc I agree. Pedro Pascal is top notch for me 👌 Loved him in Narcos. Wish we still had Netflix so I could watch it again.

snoogans888 I've no idea what Arcane is either the game or the show so will have to check that out. Actually I've just had a quick look and can see the game is the type of game I would never enjoy but that doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy the series.

BonzoBanana I’ve never played League of Legends either but Arcane is just based on some of the characters from what I know. Despite Hailee Steinfield being one of the voice actors I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for season 2.

Imnotcheap I honestly only watched it for Pedro Pascal, don't really care about the rest of the cast.

I haven't played TLoU yet (odd I know), but Pascal does a great job as Joel.

When will Season 2 air? Apparently in 2025. 😯

I'm willing to wait although I'd prefer if they'd start airing episodes even if they'd be months apart. Such a good show!

PhilipMarc I tried to play The Last of Us but I got too scared so had to stop 😂

I'm honestly such a wimp and can't handle any type of horror film, so having zombies jump out at me was too much!

Watched the first episode last night on Prime Video and enjoyed it! I haven't played the games but I didn't feel like I missed anything - I had worried there would be lots of inside jokes, which maybe there are but I didn't feel as if I was missing out. Looking forward to watching episode 2 tonight!

Tom It sort of feels slightly different to the games, it feels like its 80% based on it with some variation. However I must admit I tried and failed to enjoy the original 2 Fallout games so perhaps there is some reference to those. In the first episode they mentioned feral ghouls going for chickens and the main ghoul character did not in fact he treated it with kindness. I sort of wondered if that was anything to do with the early Fallout games I don't remember anything like that in Fallout 3, 4 or New Vegas. I do remember Chickens in Skyrim though and how you become public enemy number 1 if you kill one.

I did play fallout 3 but wasn’t really a fan. I haven’t checked out the show yet but have heard exclusively good things from anyone who has seen it. I am planning to watch it soon

Well I've watched all but one of the episodes and very impressed overall. I've enjoyed the awkward romance between 2 of the 3 main characters. What seemed the strongest character at the beginning has actually become the weakest in a way as they keep doing flashbacks to before the war and before he became a zombi and to be honest those flashbacks aren't that watchable and they make up a lot of the air time of some episodes. It's far more interesting to watch what happens in the wasteland post nuclear Armageddon. There is also another character who gets some air time which is the squire and he is very good. I'm carefully trying to avoid any spoilers. I'm super impressed with the production values and the effects. The props are great quality too like the fusion core. Really for me the only negative is the boring flashbacks which are building up of course and will get more interesting but I find very dull at the moment. I'd give the series 8 out of 10 but at this point I haven't watched the final episode of the season.
