Places To Holiday This Summer?

Ask a Question

Looking for a 10 night holiday, with 21, 18 and 9 year old. Not to far from UK. Seems really expensive to go abroad this year. Any recommendations?

We went to France. Easy to get to. Take the car as you can do more. It's lovely and as cheap as you want it to be

France or Belgium. You can get the ferry which means you can take the car. Stay in cheap hotels or maybe caravan it and buy food from the local supermarket.

Pfs I saved the tokens but when it came to booking, once you added on all the extra costs (entertainment etc) it seemed quite pricy still

vixe80 yeah unfortunately for peak dates the deals aren’t as amazing as they seem. All the add ons etc make the pice increase

It's more expensive to holiday in the UK than abroad, you can have a week in Turkey for 5 people with flights/transfers for under £1000, lodge or caravan in Bridlington over £1000

I am away at the moment as we got a very good last minute deal with Solmar Villas. Two weeks in a two bed, two bathroom private villa with pool in Portugal, cost under £400 for the villa. The weather is very hot as well. I have seen this Friday that they a villa in Crete for £160 for seven nights. Good luck with your search, sometimes you can be lucky and find a bargain. Cruising offers some good deals these days. If you don’t mind all being in same cabin you can free places or reduced fares.

vixe80 It’s Solmar villas but I’m sure once you start looking it will come up. Another idea is search villas sites and sometimes they come up cheaper on booking.com/

We have been looking for something for 4 adults and 2 under fours for Oct half term and the prices are silly, Butlins was nearly £2.000 for 4 nights, looked a superb chalet but not for £500 a night, we'll keep looking.

HEDGEHOGS that is my problem. Needs to be school holidays which in some places triples the price.

I'd love to say jersey but it's really expensive. It's beautiful. But it costs a lot to get here. a lot to stay and a lot to do things like eat. It's amazing place.

It’s so wrong the prices hike so much during school holidays not everyone can afford these prices. When my son was younger I’d think ahead a year as then I could pay in instalments and I also had a holiday fund account which I put a certain amount in each month. There are a good few websites where you can compare what day is cheaper to travel. Plus which airport do you go from makes a difference in your prices, if your happy to travel further to an airport that worth checking too. Good luck and I hope you’ll find something to suit your pocket.

IonaJones completely agree about holiday prices especially now you get fined if taking kids out during term time. Holiday co panties must be laughing.

It all depends on what month you want to take and of course the destination. You can take a 10 night break In the UK with Haven Holidays In August for £680. I Just looked. Or abroad which I have not looked because not sure of the Month.

momhobnob666 Depends where you are going. Obviously avoid school holidays. I am in Portugal at the moment and the weather has been wonderful and got a really good deal. If you are looking further a field check the weather first, the Caribbean for example may look a cheap destination after April but it could be their rainy season.

eyeballkerry I love Portugal but the Algarve seems a lot more expensive than it used to be i was being quoted £2000 for two of us for one week, flights and hotel.

momhobnob666 Just paid under £400 for a private villa with pool for two weeks. The flights and car hire with British Airways were just over £350. They cancelled our flight home the other day but we didn’t like the alternative so now flying back to Heathrow and they are paying for the taxi to take us home to Kent.
