What Are Your Plans during Isolation?

Other

Still working at present, hoping to be told contact centre closing tomorrow as it is not much different to schools, and I imagine, a lot easier.

Anyway I am going to write a list of things to do while 'Home Alone'.

This will include:

Deep clean of every room, just for sake of it, not Corona

Sort out all cupboards and draws

Sort out my filing cabinet and throw out all old paperwork, bills etc

Do jigsaws

Read books

Watch boxsets

Cook meals every day from scratch, well mostly.

On sunny days - gardening

Clean the windows and car on drive.

I could go on, but what will you be up to?

Lol, if I stick to my list I guess I will sleep well every night. I suppose I should add exercise but to be honest I think that will be exercise enough.

Ideally I would like to keep my son's brains active so will be buying plenty of books for them.

Yes, if I still had small children I would so enjoy teaching and would have a very disciplined day set out for them. Providing they were 13 or under I reckon I could help them with geography, history and English but probably not the curriculum at school lol.

I've been under self imposed house arrest for some time and haven't done any of those things, although I did think of doing some cleaning, but even thinking about it was hard work so I gave up on that plan.

I might spend a lot more of my time thinking up new things not to do, thanks for the suggestions Lyn.☺

I spent 8 months in isolation last year so I reckon I should be alright!

I will be cleaning the house, entertaining my son, cooking, doing the laundry, pretty much just the same as what I do every day!

Yes it is a whole different ball game when you have a family, but like David and very many others I will be alone to do as I please, half dreading it, half looking forward to it.

Lynibis I imagine there are going to be a number of lonely people during this isolation period.

Thankfully my youngest two boys at home are too old to need me to entertain them.(21& almost 17) strangely, they still need me to cook, clean, wash,& find the things that they 'cant find' when they look themselves...🤔😡

He is only 15 months, but he is actually very good at entertaining himself. Will play with his toys, try to climb on the furniture, help with the washing, try to figure out how things work, put his toys away in his box and take them out again, play with the dog and just walk up and down the hall because he can!

Caz2 yes, he is very 'helpful', taking the washing out the machine, taking it off the clothes dryer, but I don't actually mind. He thinks its brilliant and he loves helping Mummy.

I have had unintended isolation because 3 of my clients have cancelled due to their self isolation so I will only go to work 2 days this week. I've had the cooker fixed, steam cleaned the carpet and today I have ventured in "the drawer" and cleared all manners of junk out of it, managed to get shopping and coconut oil toilet roll so my backside is going to stink like a bottle of Malibu

Caz2 my boss once said to me 'for an intelligent woman you can be pretty stupid sometimes'. And I must admit I had a stupid 10 seconds yesterday thinking that if I drank over 60% proof spirit would it kill the virus on the inside as it supposedly does on the outside.

I then realised that even if it were so living in a state of pickled insobriety would cause far more problems!!!

PS I love Malibu but actually I rarely drink except for the odd Bailey's in my coffee.

Jigsaw is a good idea, haven't done one in ages 🙂

I do a lot of fitness from home,so that will keep me busy, plus reading, arts&crafts with the kids, listening to music, walk the dog early in the morning of late at night,I love cooking, could try new recipes on the cheap side 🙂 ,Netflix at night...sorted

Hopefully kids won't argue too much ;) the age gap doesn't help, stay safe everyone

Sounds as if you are sorted. I have a dozen or so 1000 piece jigsaws, so one a week should see me through. I wish I were good at crafts.

Ive spent 3days last week sorting through boxes of stuff, not for corona, but because my son needed my divorce papers for student finance (for next sept) must be done by june, even though that happened years ago,so found it eventually, posted off,on way ended up with 3-4 bags of old bills, letters, cards& usual cr*p that you accumulate over a couple of decades. Now waiting for a non- rainy day so can incinerate them. Then will sort kitchen cupboards, and other junk that's under my bed as there'l be nothing else to do other than watch a couple of box sets or shop online.😁oh,and the never ending washing pile)- SUCCESS!!! My hard slog paid off! Hes got his student finance through, for next uni year....if there ever IS one.....🤔😐

I am still working but as all my jobs cancelled yesterday I spent the day sorting out my filing cabinet and chucking all non important paperwork more than two years old. If the worst happens it will be less for my kids to do lol.

What isolation?

UK has completely other science than the others....we will not lock down....and we do not test, so we do not know how many people are infected for real.

They are working on the test to show who had it and resisted the virus for some reason, instead of following what WHO says.

I'm still working from home, plus still cleaning new house, some decorating on new house has started in back bedroom, also gardening and getting ready for new greenhouse and seed planting. I really am rushed off my feet. No sitting around watching boxsets for me. I have to stop when my body makes me stop with my collection of chronic illnesses I have. That's when I turn up here. I would work from 7am - 9pm if I could. So much to do.

To keep my mind fresh I would like to start practicing in playing the piano and taking lessons

That's strange I was just going to say I'd thought of learning the piano, I got a very good one "Yamaha" (the same as Elton John often uses) for when my fingers perhaps get too gnarled for guitar which I can already play very well. I'm not boasting about my abilities but whenever I'm practicing, I am so good that my neighbours smash my windows so they can hear better.

Strangely enough I started writing a book this morning, I've already written the first chapter, it still needs a bit of tweaking, and possibly expanding (or possibly deleting)- it's a futuristic story I nicked George Orwell's idea and have called it "2065". Just using a year number seemed to work for George,

davidstockport when I have completed my 'to do' list I may finish my pirate novel, it was started so long ago it will be a totally different style of writing!

Lynibis I must say writing on a lap top is so much better than on the inside of opened up cereal packets or envelopes. So much easier to tweak wording and insert things. Are you publishing your pirate story Lyn? I'm still developing the central character "Malcolm" in mine.

I'll probably have a rest from it and write a few songs instead, I don't want to get writer's block. I say "write songs" I just compose them then forget them after a few days, many say I should do the same with the few I do write down.

davidstockport ha ha, we should chivvy each other up and then read each other's novel. Would be too scared of rejection to put forward for publishing. Maybe LD could have an aspiring writer's page......and songs lol.
