Possible Third Wave of Coronavirus - Are We Headed For Another Lockdown?
Ask a Question
A scientist is advising the UK government that we are entering the early stages of a third wave of coronavirus infections.
Could you face another full lockdown?
I know we all have some type of restrictions at the moment but the thought of another lockdown - can you see another lockdown happening again?
We need to be getting back to normal now and learn to live with this virus. It's here to stay and we need to learn to accept that, particularly now that we have the vaccines.
To answer your last question though, I can't really see another lockdown happening. Perhaps 'Freedom day' will just be pushed back a bit.
RC hope you are right and that all that happens is Freedom Day only gets pushed back.
HH. NO, please don’t mention another lockdown. Don’t think I could stand an other one
RegularComper90 yes, totally agree. We need to learn to live with it. The thought of a third lockdown doesn’t bear thinking about.
BlueEyesX yes, I think most people have had enough. My heart sank when I read about a possible third wave.
HappyTravels The beers are already in, along with copious amounts of spirits thanks to Amazon going a bit mental a couple of days ago.
Up for a couple of shots of £40 tequila, RegularComper90?
So happy to hear you've got plenty of bog roll, those who probably need to wipe their lips after speaking need plenty.
Yes I do think there will be another lock down and it will start in August and be a very long lock down thats why I am starting to get things ready now and its just not safe to be out and about thats why I am happy to stay home on the farm
Well there best not be I just can’t cope no more. When we locked in that’s all I hear parents whinging schools are closed can’t go on any more. If people just be sensible big words that is for the British to understand then we should be fine. Trouble is most are still furlough until September which then weathers takes a turn for flu season it’s just a circle we need to live with it now and move on get everyone back in office before too late
Ann1984 yes, the furlough will definitely be interesting. Or perhaps they will extend it yet again? I hope not.
Think lockdowns will be a normal thing for a while
But just my opinion
Don’t want a debate about it
SarahHorsfield Ooo! I'm all up for a debate
Maybe the resident LD 'fun sponge' will get involved if anyone dares get any fact wrong?
There will be a third wave , that's not even a question , it's started already . The question is is whether it can be contained to an acceptable level of hospitalisations thanks to the majority of us having had vaccinations .
Golfforall am loving the social distance it keeps the mother in law away. It’s in and out school yard but do agree something is happening with him putting more places on red list. What fool’s people were booking holidays now boom you can’t go SUCKERS
Ann1984 It'll come , hopefully with the protection offered by the vaccine it will not swamp our hospitals . However I'm sure that Mr Dumb and Mrs Dumber will do their level best to make sure that we don't contain the hospitalisations
TheChimp All we can do is to stay sensible and we'll be fine . Sadly we have to rely on the terminally stupid minority to also be sensible I'm not confident
Ann1984 Probably the same kind of fools who don't follow the guidance to abstain from alcohol for at least a few days before and a couple of weeks after the covid jab. I saw one on Sunday who'd had the jab the day before, admitting he was drunk. I won't say too much some paranoid individual might think I'm talking about him.
Experts differ on the actual length of abstinence. https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/alcohol-and-the-covid-vaccine_uk_5ff2ddf3c5b6ec8ae0b40835
I live in North Tyneside. We are one of the 8 flagged areas with high levels of the Indian variant. Cases have risen in the last couple weeks but it's predominately in the under 30s. What's worth remembering is (in my area) that tho infection cases have increased hospital admissions have not. My in law works on a covid ward at a local hospital, the ward has been empty for weeks. All suggesting the vaccine is working. Once a good percentage of the under 30s have been vaccinated I have hope cases will drop off. I do not believe we will lock down again, tho no doubt June date will be moved.
