My granddaughter has recently discovered Harry Potter so I’m going to make her HP themed bits and pieces. Eg - decorate t-shirt, water bottle - pencil case - wall art etc and possibly crochet a scarf in the HP colours.

LilianW what a lovely idea. I love home made gifts. Wish I was more crafty. I can knit a straight line and that’s about it πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Could you maybe ask her parents/guardian what she would like for Christmas? My family always ask me what my son would like, it makes i.t easier for them.

My niece has turned 11 but last Christmas I got her a Crystal art kit and she loved it! As it was her first one I got a beginner kit. I also bought a cheap frame from Hobbycraft so she can put it on her bedroom wall.

When I was younger I always used to write a list from the Argos catalogue (how times have changed πŸ˜†) - but you could do something similar and maybe ask her to write/tell you her top 5 in a certain budget? πŸ™‚

miaclare19 Haha me too.

I would write my lists from the catalogues over and over, strangely enjoyable πŸ˜†

There is suppose to be a wish list sheet you can get now too, with their new small Christmas catalogue. Might keep a few kids off technology for a few minutes 😁

Although Amazon wish lists probably come in handy, this time of year.

miaclare19 Ahh the Argos catalogue...that's brought back memories, I used to circle everything I wanted and leave it on my parents dining room table. πŸ˜†

It goes to a broken link now. I found the information through the Argos website. Such a shame, doesn't look like the app is actually active πŸ˜”

My mum always puts money in a card for her grandchildren. They can buy what they want then.

When my neices and nephews get to 10 I give them money unless they ask for something specific. Its such a difficult age to buy for maybe stuff like makeup, bath bombs, perfume, jewellery.

How about a token gift just to have something to open and then money and suggest you both have a day out together and you can see what she buys with it.

It all depends on their interests really, what they have and your budget.

Some children would be happy with an art set, others get the latest technology.

Some parents, gift their children the things that a lot of children have when going back to school (new stationary, pencil case, lunch boxes) or clothes & shoes, they wouldn't usually be able to just get when needed.

Sites like Argos, Wicked Uncle and other sites, often have a section with recommendations for people of certain ages:

www.argos.co.uk/list/9-to-12-years-toys

www.wickeduncle.co.uk/presents/boys/age-10

Reusable items are popular right now - period pads, reusable bottles, straws etc. You could do an Eco hamper.

I love gifting creative things, so a crafty hamper or gift. I love a diamond painting personally and think it is great for anyone who is older enough and able to do them. You can get them super cheap online with so many different pictures. Great for creativity, the mind and helps with focus.

The Works have some great gifts, no longer just a book store, crafts, games, books, lots of their website, with great prices and deals: www.theworks.co.uk/

I love a good board/card game, many are great for children and adults.

Ticket to Ride, Unstable unicorns, colour brain and King of Tokyo are some good games.

WHSmith, Waterstones and even GAME sell board games, I've been surprised at some of the bargains I have found in some of the bigger stores recently, so worth looking around.

If they are an active child then rollerblades may be a good option, I used to love playing outside, sadly not all kids get out much anymore.

I recommend Superdrug cosmetics, especially their Layering Lab body sprays, bath bombs etc - all cruelty free and reasonably priced. Maybe look on Etsy for handmade/unique gifts - jewellery possibly?
