Maybe it's just life events that are causing the problem. You don't have to be thinking about them at the time for anxiety attacks to be set off.

Depression and anxiety are two different things.

Back in the day, your GP would prescribe something like valium to sort it out, but due to people abusing them and because they're highly addictive, GPs are very reluctant to give them out anymore.

Have a chat with your doctor and see what they say.

Could be so many triggers from what you are thinking about to if it is a dark day or people you interact with, hope you get some relief soon. If you have something you need to do or are putting off decide about it can increase anxiety.

I don’t know how old you are or your gender, but I keep reading about how ADHD is being diagnosed in adult women more and more. There are many symptoms and anxiety is one of them. It is hard to get a proper diagnosis, but there are tests you can do to see if it might apply to you.

I'm in the same boat as you, it's been an awful year for us all and it's taken it's toll on peoples mental health. I do meditation and breathing techniques which help a lot. I also have a sensate which is designed to help with anxiety. It's very expensive at £200 but it's working wonders for me

I've been suffering with it most of my life and I do exercise which helps a lot.

I say this so often but if you do not have a pet consider owning one

A dog for example is so naturally therapeutic and besides giving you a purpose in life, looking after it, you gain by excercising, taking it for a walk, and being a distraction to what is happening around you

Good luck

For me I find mindfulness, exercise (especially pilates and yoga), and having a pet definitely helps - also if there's a lot of things going on in your life right now I try and see if there's anything I can eliminate to take the pressure off or if not take it one day or one task at a time 😊

I've noticed this is the second mental health related discussion I've seen you post in less than a week and you seem to be struggling at the moment, it's good that you have reached out for help here.

I wonder if it's worth going back to your GP for more professional help or contacting organisations that are used to helping people

Do you have a andysmanclub local?

At ANDYSMANCLUB, we want to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and create a judgment-free, confidential space where men can be open about the storms in their lives. We aim to achieve this through weekly, free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups for men aged over 18.

ILOVEFANTA i have both anxiety and depression but when you go to a doctor they just prescribe you with anti depressants which they also say treat anxiety which just make me feel worse, ive tried benzos but they dont treat the root cause of the problem so i just just live with depression and anxiety. There's thread on reddit about how our mental health system is no good, which is why im asking for help from the general public www.reddit.com/r/collapse/comments/hef8kk/the_entire_mental_health_field_is_broken_beyond/

If medications aren't working for you then you need to be reassessed by a professional, probably your first port of call should be your GP to organise this and get a referral.

I understand waiting times are huge at the moment and many people struggle to get the help they need.

Medication isn't the only option for treating mental health issues and perhaps you need to look at therapy and counseling. You mention getting to the route cause of your problems, I don't think you'll be able to do that by yourself without the therapy.

I gave the links to quite a few places that might be able to help and if they aren't helpful for you personally hopefully the links might be seen by others.

Dalton95 here's a link to Mind which contains further links to get peer support for Anxiety which you might find helpful

www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/anxiety-and-panic-attacks/self-care/

Peer support brings together people who've had similar experiences to support each other. Many people find it helps them to share ideas about how to stay well, connect with others and feel less alone. You could:

Contact a specialist organisation. For example, you can find details of support groups, forums and helplines on the Anxiety Care UK, Anxiety UK, No More Panic, No Panic and Triumph Over Phobia UK websites.

Join Side by Side, Mind's supportive online community.

Contact Mind's Infoline and ask about support groups near you. Alternatively you could find your local Mind and contact them directly.

Also

You may find that complementary and alternative therapies help you to manage your anxiety.

There are many types that you can try, to see what works for you. These include:

yoga

meditation

aromatherapy

massage

reflexology

herbal treatments

Bach flower remedies

hypnotherapy.

Some people find that one or more of these methods can help them to relax or sleep better.

I too suffer with depression and anxiety. I went to a training course on Anxiety today. It was very informative and useful. I find getting out a walk in the fresh air with my ear pods in listening to my favourite music helps me. Was suggested to try meditation so that's on my list to do next. I also used to do diamond painting and found that gave me something else to focus on rather that what was going on in my head. You are not alone.

I think with everything going on in the world a lot of people are feeling anxious, it may be subconscious. I know that I have had to limit myself on the amount of news I can about absorb as It was having an adverse effect on my mood.

When you feel like that I would recommend mindfulness, see www.nhs.uk/mental-health/self-help/tips-and-support/mindfulness/

It may help 😁
