Are You a Reader?

Ask a Question

How many books do you generally read in a year? I have to admit I barely read 1.

Ive tried but I just can’t. I find myself drifting and can’t concentrate properly. It’s something I’d like to do tho to relax of an evening before bed

I go through phases where I will read 2 or 3 in a week and then none for months. It very much depends on my state of mind and also hitting on an author I cannot put down. What genre of books do you like LenoirLenoir

I like to read it’s just finding the time! I set myself a target of reading one a month last year and I exceeded that. I’m going to continue to do that this year and try and read once a month 😊

I'm trying to read more this year, about 1 book per month. I'm enjoying Gordon Ramsay's autobiography at the moment.

I read two to three books a week. I have phases where I will read a certain genre, biographies, police procedural, paranormal, romance etc. I am currently in a historical fiction phase! I love my Kindle!

Historical fiction is my main reading choice. I can recommend David Gilman, Sharon Penman, Elizabeth Chadwick, Ken Follett and Anne O'Brien to name a few. There is more info on the other thread you just commented on.

I read The Plantagenet Series by SP and have also read several of KF. Have over 1,000 books waiting to be read on my Kindle, so not short for inspiration!

My mother developed macular degeneration and eventually lost her sight. I think this is always at the back of my mind, so I am a prolific reader while I still can. A simple joy in life Lynibis!

Probably 1 or 2 a month ,more when on holiday . Never watch tele in bed always read a book for 30 -40 mis . Gets me to the land of nod away from the thoughts of the day . Although Simon Scarrow's bloodthirsty Roman novels are maybe not that peaceful !

Love reading, but often end up just reading the internet! My dad reads to me as he is over 80, deaf and it's hard having long conversation....

I listen to lots of books on the radio, perhaps you could try that as a way in, you can listen to radio fours reading when you like on the sounds website and there are millions of audio books out there of course.

I would love to read more for myself but life is busy. Me and my son read a novel together at night and i've loved going over my childhood stories. So far this year we've read 2 novels together.

That sound like something I need to do with my son. He has to read 3 times a week for school but doesnt... I have to encourage it. I may try this... thanks

I read a lot of books. I love reading. It's my main hobby. It relaxes me. I just finished a great book on pyramids - not about those pyramids but how the shape of pyramids could be beneficial and what the great pyramid of Giza could of been really for. It was written in 1975 and found in a second hand book shop. I'm just about to start my next one. I tend to read a lot of theology, myths, occult and esoteric books nowadays. Not much fiction anymore.
