My original engagement ring cost less than £500 as that was what we could afford at the time. My husband could have given me a cheap ring from Claires accessories and I would have still said yes. It isn't about the size of the diamond or whatever other stone you might have, it's about what the ring represents.

After I had our son my original engagement and wedding rings didn't fit, so I went and got cubic zirconia ones, they cost me £60 for both. It doesnt matter how big your engagement ring is or how much it cost and if your fiancé isn't happy with it then that's a sign for the future.

I was lucky I was able to pick my own engagement ring but I did ask what the price limit was, and the one I chose was reduced to half price so He only paid £500 and I was well under the price limit , I definitely would not have rejected the ring if it was picked out for me and it would not matter what size the diamonds were as it’s the thought that counts, I think that any man/ woman who rejects the ring is ungrateful

The man should allow his future wife to choose her own ring. After all she’s the one wearing it for years plus if he’s intelligent he knows she’ll pick one they can afford.

I actually did. But that's because I had a choice to change it. My partner is rubbish at selecting anything and I would much rather pick things out myself. The one I had was just nice but got caught on everything. I absolutely love my ring now, its a big rock but its so worth it 😌. I also made sure to get it at a good price

No, I would be happy with a piece of thread knotted on my finger as long I was with the person I loved.

This story just highlights the girl’s immaturity. She is more concerned about oneupmanship than her partner’s feelings. It would be different if she didn’t like the ring from the outset but she was initially happy with it until she compared it to her friends. Shallow behaviour!!

So so agree. There is no love in that woman's heart merely wanting to show off a big ring and advertising that she has got her man. I would be happy with a ring from a jamboree bag (anyone remember them?) as long as it was given with love and not out of meaness.

I would be rejecting my fiancé if the engagement ring was rejected. If she is like this now over an engagement ring then she will be a nightmare later on. Too materialistic!

If you love the person the size and cost of the ring isn't important, it's just a symbol.

In fact so if I recall correctly, my engagement ring cost £89, it was 30 years ago. Plus I wanted a freezer.

I went in one shop looking for a ring and three looking for the freezer 😄

I always laugh when people in tv series get engaged and the ring fits I doubt I could choose the right size out for myself without trying it on.

If you haven't guessed I'm not married just live with my partner and our 3 kids

Gosh no! My husband chose mine and it’s wonderful. It is in a ring box now as it’s a little too big for me and haven’t had the time to get it reset smaller.

Wouldn’t care if it was £10 or £10000, it’s always the thought and effort that has gone into choosing a ring.

My engagement ring is .50 of diamonds set in 18ct gold, he did extremely well in choosing a wonderful ring and style that I do like.

At the moment I’m wearing a smaller ring set that didn’t cost the earth and fits perfectly, until I get my original resized.
