Reposting Somebody Else's Post? is That Possible?

Ask a Question

Right. I've had this problem a few times. I've posted something one day, it's gone through and I've got points for it. So that means nobody's posted it right? The next day it's been taken down because somebody's already posted it. I can only think of 2 reasons this would happen. The system didn't realise it was already posted, which is fair enough. But my other theory is people are struggling to find original posts, click on other people's posts to get the links, then report the original post for some reason or another, then repost it as their own post so they can get the points. Is that even possible? My post are getting deleted on almost a daily basis at the moment.

Tom Kelsey these are whom you should contact, but I've tagged so one of them should get back to you.

False reports sometimes happen when users want to gain points without doing anything else, so that is possible and you noticed it happened more than once.

Thank you. Just wanted to post it to see if it had been happening to anyone else.

PhilipMarc Is this another one of your conspiracy theories along with Covid-19?

The 'bots can only recognise a post as duplicate if the title and wording is shared verbatim. If the first poster varies their share and doesn't copy the the title exactly - and you do - then it's probably been reported as a dupe by a member, some time later, who has noticed it. It's happened to many of us at one time.

I don't think anyone can share a deal a second time unless yours has been expired for genuine reasons. (no longer available/the price has changed considerably/it's over a month old and the deal has changed) On this occasion I don't think it's a deliberate points gathering but I'd definitely use the contact form so that you can get a detailed answer.

Hi AnnaAddams thank you for your Chat post, I'm sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with Latest Deals.

I have reviewed your profile and looked at the last three competition posts of yours that are in moderation. I am sorry to say that for each one, the competition had already been posted.

It is for the first reason you mentioned: The system didn't realise it was already posted. Unfortunately, the system isn't perfect and it does miss things, particularly competitions which may have many different links for the same competition.

Your second question:

  • But my other theory is people are struggling to find original posts, click on other people's posts to get the links, then report the original post for some reason or another, then repost it as their own post so they can get the points. Is that even possible?

In theory, no, this is not possible. You cannot Report a post as a duplicate if the original post is older than your own.

When you receive a notification that your post has been put into moderation as a duplicate it will also include a link to where you can see this other post. You can open that other post and see when it was posted. In the instance of those three competitions I reviewed, they were all published 12-13 days before yours.

I hope this helps explain and answer your questions, but as this is a personal support query rather than a public discussion, I will close this chat post. You are welcome to contact us via support email for more help.
