Ricky Gervaise on Golden Globes
Other
Did anyone see it on gmb this morning. As usual Piers was crowing over Ricky's speech and I must admit, the way he tore into the celebs was very funny.
Mind you it did bring to mind the old biblical saying 'let he who is without sin cast the first stone'.
Good job it was his last time hosting, not sure he would be invited back next year. He does voice things that a lot of other people are probably thinking and are too scared to say
Well I haven't heard anyone calling for his head to roll over anything he said. Everyone seems to be enjoying it and the publicity is priceless so I wouldn't be surprised if he IS invited back. He admitted that the 3rd or 4th time they made him an offer he couldn't refuse.........watch this space!
Lynibis he did say this was the last show he would host though. I read that the powers that be (whoever they are) weren't happy, probably a bit to close for comfort for them
I have to admit I chuckled at his comment and totally agreed with him - it's an awards ceremony so leave the politics at home. BUT...........he is also the owner of the comment made about re-counting the vote because there could be many now dead making their vote null and void! An unhealthy dose of ageism was promoted last year.
I am not a fan of Ricky Gervaise but for once I agree. Who are these people to preach to us all? Lack of education, friends with dead pedos. He was right. I found it rather funny, especially the faces of the hollywood actors, for eg, Tom Hanks. I think people need to stop putting celebrities on pedal stools as are lacking in morals, pretty much the lot of them.
I agree that most of them deserved what they got but I would hate to have been on the receiving end! Also, at the end of the day, you have to be sure your own record is lily white before you have a go at others. Having said that i have not heard anything bad about Ricky except the rudeness of his comedy!
I had to come back to this thread as I've now seen the whole speech. Wow! he was brutal! He was also very accurate and touched a few raw nerves by the look on some of the guests' faces. ShellyAnn surprised by Tom Hanks because he has a healthy sense of humour and Nicole Kidman's husband was really po-faced.
I had to laugh at the Leo di Caprio gag. Just recently I commented on the Mail online when they ran a story about him frolicking on the beach with a model half his age. I don't like or dislike Ricky but I did laugh out loud at his monologue.
I just watched the opening speech this morning. Ricky went in hard!! Have to admit that I found it very funny. Good on Ricky I say. Too see the looks of discomfort on some of the smug, preachy faces was hilarious.
It certainly made me squirm lol. Have you watched Afterlife? Really good and well worth a watch. Tragicomedy if ever I saw one and laugh out loud moments despite the pathos.
Lynibis I haven't seen Afterlife yet but from the clips I have seen its deffo my thing. I do like a dark toned comedy. It's been on my to watch list since it came out. Golden globes reminded me of it. Think I might start watching it this weekend!
No i didnt see it, but i read about it as its been all over the papers and social media. Have never been a fan of his, although I have agreed with most of his views in the past...and it seems like I agree with most of his recent comments also
