This explains why I've not been receiving any mail and it's about to get even worse.

Oh 🤬 I'm not saying everyone does deserve a decent wage but if we all get one we just end up with runaway inflation. People will end up using their competitors to get stuff through

I'm never gonna be on the side of the government when it comes to striking . For me it comes back to 2010 when this government was voted in . The people who are striking or balloting to strike have had to put up with 12 years of peanut wage rise and now they have said enough is enough .Surely this was seen to be coming whether its the posties or the train drivers. If they were balloted and they were told whatever the MP's have in a wage rise we get I guarantee they will be withdrawing there strike threat .

If the government try to make it harder to strike ,whats to stop the people all ringing in sick to get there point accross . I do feel sorry for the people who it affects but the government tactics in trying to cause division and like everything else they will fail miserably .

Royal Mail are going to loose customers !! Me for one…. I’ll be looking for a decent parcel company to use from Monday onwards.

reannsgran Try Parcel2Go.

There's UPS, DPD, FedEx, Evri, etc.

But I don't recommend Yodel. If you or someone you send a parcel to [an apartment], they'll just leave it on the ground floor.

PhilipMarc Thank you. I shall be using parcel2go from Monday onwards. I’m off to buy a printer today as I usually write the address on any parcels I send.

I was really hoping the strikes would be over by now but sadly not.

I tend to only use royal mail for letter post and items that go to northern ireland and scottish highlands because they are dearer for most services.

I can't see this ending well for Royal Mail staff, they are not in a monopoly position nowadays and these costs will add to the royal mails burden of debt and shrink their customer base. It probably won't be long before royal mail will have to have a huge amount of redundancies due to these strikes.

We are heading for a huge recession and a huge amount of royal mail staff will be made redundant in this coming recession.

This isn't a time when everyone else's money is going up and the economy is doing well and the royal mail is the only company not giving staff an increase its a time where wages are stagnating for most people despite huge inflation.

The number of royal mail staff has gone up a lot in the last couple of years, the pandemic dropped numbers considerably and it more than recovered but I can see 30-40,000 people facing redundancy in the next couple of years because they are forcing companies and consumers to use other services. I could be wrong but I think Royal Mail staff get paid a lot more than typical staff of other couriers like Evri and Yodel. In fact some of those are self-employed and have to use their own vehicle to make deliveries which they get a fuel allowance for. These are the sort of companies they will be faced with working for if made redundant. Huge amount of people in this country with good skills on the minimum wage and very poor pensions.
