Salt Bae Restaurant...Would You if You Could Afford It??

Other

So, I've seen lots of receipts online from Salt Bae restaurant and were talking crazy prices!

Even if you could afford to go and pay £30,000+ for a meal out would you???

Personally I couldn't justify paying those prices, I would feel so guilty splurging when there's so many people/families nowadays struggling to eat and use food banks. I'm quite a grounded person and I'd rather go for a pub meal or pick up some decent steaks from Aldi! I think this Salt Bae guy is laughing all the way to the bank...and celebs are showing how selfish they really are.

I've added an image of one receipt from Salt Bea 😵

Aenurse1 I don't think there is any justifing it. The service charge alone is nearly 5k 😵. And £850 for a gold covered steak ...

I wouldn't go there and spend that kind of money on a meal, no matter how much money I had. The prices are just ridiculous.

As much as I believe people are entitled to spend their hard earned dosh however they please, Some clearly just have more money than sense. Now I love my grub but could never ever find any justification in spending that amount on a meal. It's just pure madness! Think of all the good things you could do/achieve with it instead. It's pretty shameful imo.

Glitterandgold same with me, I do like my food and I do like to go for a meal every blue moon but it would be around £50 for 2 of us at a nice restaurant near us.

Two-thirds of the bill was on drink. They could have saved £20,000+ if they had opted for tap water and snuck in a Red Bull. Rather than pay £11 for a can. This restaurant is in Knightsbridge. There are plenty of residents and rich visitors happy to flaunt their wealth around there.

ACR I think people are going now just to show off their receipts if I'm honest!

Actually the bill was 5% food (£1,810), and 95% for 5 bottles of Champagne (£35,213) .

Exactly. I don't understand why this restaurant is getting so much media (or maybe this is the plan really), when it's very common for bottles of wine to be sold at this price. Special vintage bottles cost a fortune, and every day out there, someone with a lot of money is buying them at a restaurant like this.

Johnny my bills usually like that 5% food 95% drink but on a much cheaper scale 😂😂🍷

What’s the betting some of those customers will be bankrupt in a few years time? And possibly the owner too.

Grannyclock think the owner is a bit of a loon...when they are bankrupt they can look back and think 'all that money I wasted at Salt Bae'.

No never would I spend this amount of money at a restaurant. I don’t care who is cooking it or where it is this is not right.

eyeballkerry no it's not right, especially nowadays when there's so many struggling families.

I think the owners 'party trick' is he throws salt onto the food with his elbow.... I'd want to see him at least escape a tank full of hungry sharks while his hands are tied behind his back 🤣

Even if I had that kind of money I wouldn't spend it on dinner. That kind of money is a deposit on a house.

I am of the opinion that if you can afford it then you are entitled to spend your money how you like, but I think the prices being charged are just insane!

Can’t believe people pay those prices. I’d deffo put it towards paying some of my mortgage. But for those who can afford 30+k on a meal out, how rich are they 😳

It seems obscene that people are paying these sort of prices when so many can't afford to eat.

I enjoyed Jay Rayner's piece on this today

It's obscene and the owner is a fly by night . I love going to a pub and enjoying a delicious meal with my wife and kids and to pay £30,000 for a meal is repulsive especially when you see people using foodbanks .

Some people are happy to drop over 30k on a overinflated ***** meal while others are struggling at food banks. How this tool has become famous for sprinkling a bit of salt is unbelievable

svengali I don't think people who can afford to eat there are people who use bargain deals sites 🤣 saying that, if I ever had money I've always said I'd still buy reduced items and get bargains, think it's just the way I am..I get a buzz off getting a bargain!
