Are You Saving Money?
Ask a Question
I am saving a lot more money being on lockdown. Not going to shopping centres and not booking holidays. Not even purchased anything online. I have managed to sell some items on eBay and have been paid back some debts.
Hi. Saving a ton! I'm one of the unlucky ones having to take dependency leave so no wages. But I have other income and saved more this month than I have in a while. I'm also doing the shopping instead of the wife for a change and I love showing her how easy it is
A small amount more spent on booze, a lot less spent on fuel but a big loss with income so overall, I'm down in finances but yes saving money in some areas at least.
Husband is saving £17 a day not commuting, and that for 7 weeks, so thats a lot of money saved. The grocery bill is higher though as less promotions.
We are saving by not getting takeaways, going out for dinner, travelling to work, not going to playgroups. But our shopping bill is higher due to there not being as many promotions.
eyeballkerry there are still promotions but not as many as normal in our store and we can't always get the value or supermarket own brand so have had to buy the cheapest branded item. Plus we have been using our local co-op and corner shop when we can't get click and collect, which are more expensive anyway.
sam30 our closest Aldi is a half hour drive away, Asda is a 20 minute drive. We do have a local Lidl, but as our son has a heart condition we have been told to be cautious and try to shop in smaller stores or get a delivery or click and collect if possible. If Lidl or Aldi delivered then I would order from them and haven't been able to get a delivery from our Asda. Luckily we have been able to get click and collect from Tesco and have only had to go to the co-op to get milk and bread when necessary.
