I usually get a box of Lego for my son's friends. Or something crafty for my daughter friends . I sometimes ask the kids if I'm struggling

It depends what age. I always ask the parents what they are into and if I can't find anything suitable I will put money in a card and get some sweets.
In terms of amount, depends how close they are. I usually go £10 or if a really close friend of my son up to £20.
