Shower with the Right Soap to Keep the Mosquitoes at Bay

In the News

Some people are more prone to mosquito bites than others and it could be down to the soap you use

Apparently soaps like dove attract the mossies while soaps smelling of or containing coconut oil can help repel them

Of course no soap and body odour can also be a big draw for them

So next time you are on holiday and take a shower pick the correct soap, once bitten twice 'coconut' shy

I’m due a delivery of Avon Skin so Soft oil body spray tomorrow. Apparently it’s a good mosquito deterrent, fingers crossed it works for us.

Pjran yes, it does help, saying that I hardly get bothered by them, although my daughter was complaining about mosquitos flying into her room yesterday 😅 she keeps her window shut now, I also use incense sticks, seems to help too x

nina090976 we don’t have many around our house but my husband runs in the forest and last week had so many bites along with others in the group.

Pjran I see, I would definately recommend it then, nothing worse than mosquitos attacking you when out and about, or late at night, flying around, so irritating 😅x

They have always gone for me no matter what I do. So I’ve no choice but to cover up…yet they still find a piece of me! (Once I was very well covered, so they went for my eyelid!)

telmel very much so. I’ve been told they’re attracted to me since birth - anything that bites just goes for me

telmel I eat tonnes of garlic, and I do mean TONNES to the point where vampires will migrate to another planet. But mozzies? Undeterred :-(

hspexy That's strange H , garlic is supposed to repel mossies as well, they must just like your blood type , i found this on google

About 85 percent of people give off a chemical signal through their skin that indicates their blood type. If you're one of them, mosquitoes will find you particularly appealing — no matter what blood type you are.

telmel yep. In my culture, they say they’re attracted to my flesh type - again, my skin gives off an aroma they are attracted to, so there’s no disguising me 😕

Before a trip to Scotland I was advised to use tea tree soap and wipes. Luckily I didn't need to test this as we were mossie free due to the time of year.

Lynibis I believe perfumes also attract them L, so another thing to avoid wearing on hot nights

I get bitten very badly everywhere we go abroad but Skin So Soft doesn't work for me at all. Over the years the ingredients have changed and any good it may have done is out the window. Over the years I've tried everything possible but I reckon if your going to get bitten nothing will stop the pesky little buggers

I'm a magnet for mosquitoes, i've tried everything but I still get bitten by them. My oldest son had a bad reaction to his bites. When he was bitten on his legs the size of the infected area was really bad. Had to get a doctor to check them out.
