Shrove Tuesday.Carnivals and Pancakes

In the News

Shrove Tuesday today so the Catholics among us will be eating pancakes ahead of the beginining of Lent and a period of abstinence. Many start with a celebration. The Mardi Gras in New Orleans is one of many carnivals taking place at this time. There are pancake races up and down the country as well and I am sure even secular folk like to eat pancakes today.I like mine in traditional style with sugar and lemon. How do you all favour them? Me too, lemon and sugar. I eat them whenever I like but strangely enough not often on the actual day. No more than 4/5 times per year though.

Lynibis No more than twice a year for me.Not averse to eating any leftovers tomorrow even if it is Lent.I will fast from something else like being grumpy or rude lol.

Always do them on the day. Make my own. Either golden syrup or lemon and sugar.

Definitely not religious, but normally do pancake day. MrsChimp didn't fancy any this year though.

I don’t really keep to the religious thing but I do enjoy pancakes on the day and even some other times. They have to be the thin crepe type, don’t like the thick ones.

slightfoot It’s ok! Enjoy your roast chicken. You can have pancakes any time (if you are not strictly religious about it).

MelissaLee1 ,They are absolutely delicious, see daughter & I like experimenting, trying different flavours as you can tell from her Ginger Pancakes with Dark Chocolate Drizzle recipe.

Give Jangy's Scrambled Eggs a try,you won't regret it,don't go to heavy on the Cumin though..

Works well,Cheese,Spring Onion & Cumin Scrambled Eggs.

There's a who lot of flavours to be discovered so get experimenting!
