Silent Fireworks
Ask a Question
I see some displays are doing silent fireworks this year whats your thoughts on it
Half the fun hearing the bangs but wouldn't say that if I were a cat or someone with a pace maker lol.
MelissaLee1963 yes I always loved them before I got my dogs I know loads of people who get a tablet from the vet I put my telly or music up loud so they don't hear them as bad poor wee furbabys
I think they should all be silent I don't mind fire works but there is no need for the noise of them so many animals are scared to death
Great idea. My daughter didn’t like the noise of fireworks, took her years before she could go and enjoy a big display.
I have never heard of silent fireworks. I bet you it is a "woke" invention. They are only "happy" when being miserable and everyone agree to their ideas.
That's a great idea, I didnt know they made silent fireworks. We love going to see displays but they are incredibly loud for little ones and animals.
Midnightflower yes I feel sorry for animals, small children and elderly people most of them don't like them I didn't know they were selling them the now until I heard people talking about them think it will be great for the future no loud bangs nearly gives me a heart attack lol
I think all of the displays near where I live have been cancelled and I for one am not disappointed !! I expect my neighbours round and about will still let of a few bangers like they do every year so I’ll probably be watching tv with my 2 beagles and the cockerpoo sat on my lap tonight.
reannsgran think a few are cancelled think due to money I have my music blaring as the fireworks are all going off the now trying for my wee furbabys not to hear pity help my neighbours lol well it's not to loud lol hope your furbabys are ok
They should be banned hate the bloody things used to be carnage where I live around halloween thankfully this year there was hardly any
I am sitting here alone watching tv and knitting. The incessant banging for the last 4 hours is driving me loopy, as it did yesterday and probably will tomorrow. I am sure they could find some middle ground and do away with the bangs, just wooshes and whistles would be acceptable.
Lynibis I've lost count since when fireworks started and the government nor the police seem concerned about it to put an end to it.
1, 2, or 3 days? Okay, but every day?? Fireworks are meant to celebrate something wonderful, not have it go off every day for God knows why. This makes New Year firework celebration kind of pointless.
I'm tired, annoyed, and exhausted of hearing them.
Silent or at least low noise would be good. Maybe in some areas fireworks are confined to a few nights a year, but around here (large city) I hear them going off year round and during the daytime. Around bonfire night and NYE it's like a constant war zone.
PhilipMarc I do wonder sometimes when it's only those certain bangs which thing it is I'm really hearing
jdible Banning fireworks would ruin for people who respect the laws and society.
Banning isn't the solution, verifying and restricting could be.
PhilipMarc yes its all the idiots that ruin it for others my partner was saying where he use to stay they were letting them of until 2 this morning throwing them at houses and cars even putting them in people's letterboxes some sick people
The displays this year weren't silent where we live. We showed our son, he looked at one of them and walked away! Our dog doesn't care about fireworks, she doesn't even react to them.
MrsCraig your lucky your wee dog doesn't bother one of my wee dogs was terrified poor wee soul some were so loud thank god its all by with for another year a few cancelled there displays thats great your son isant to interested in them my wee granddaughter was in some state she's only 11 months must have been wondering what was going on
kate1310 we are very lucky, our dog has never bothered about them. She barked the first year she heard them and then just ignored them. Our son has always ignored the fireworks. He would sleep right through them. He is nearly 4, but has no interest. Your poor wee grand daughter, it must be quite scary for them.
I think they should be silent only due to the amount of animals / people who are scared of the loud bangs. They can still be enjoyed lighting up the sky. I think the problem round where i live is the people setting them off for weeks before or after.
MISSMESSY Even if moderately silent you could probably still hear them.
Today, thankfully, no fireworks. I hope it stays that way.
PhilipMarc yes they are supposed to be low noise not completely silent last night was ridiculous still going off at 11 o'clock not heard any tonight yet hopefully stays that way
I think this outdated concept of fireworks should be banned from public sale altogether. If you want to enjoy a few bangs then go to a licensed public display. Fireworks cause so much misery to many animals as well as people. Allowing them only at licensed displays will allow people to prepare in advance as well as ease the strain off fire fighters and the police. Times have moved on.
RegularComper90 yes after reading all the dreadful storys thats happened they should just do away with them unless it's a firework display some people are so stupid with them was reading about all the phone calls and arrest absolutely disgusting people can't enjoy bonfire night now wastes it for others
RegularComper90 A boy died from a "youth" using it as a weapon.
kate1310 Guns used to be legal in the U.K. before, but now if you see/read about one it's likely being used illegally. Citizens have been stripped more or less of self-defense measures due to people using for violent reasons.
Fireworks are going down the same path, sigh. And they're not even meant to be a weapon.
PhilipMarc Yes, I can see fireworks being banned from public sale at some point in the near future. Sadly, too many people use them for the wrong reasons now and I can't see how that can be regulated. It's also more like Bonfire season nowadays, rather than just Bonfire night.
I live in a village and we had the most horrendous night here, I couldn't calm my youngest dog at all, he must have barked more or less non stop for nearly 4 hours, it was so stressful, we were absolutely shattered afterwards, and with the morons on the news throwing them at innocent people, it's about time something is done about them!
