Great idea. My daughter didn’t like the noise of fireworks, took her years before she could go and enjoy a big display.

I have never heard of silent fireworks. I bet you it is a "woke" invention. They are only "happy" when being miserable and everyone agree to their ideas.

jam45 this has got nothing to do with that. I don't know about silent fireworks, but lower noise and a crack down on how widely they're sold and misused would be ideal.

That's a great idea, I didnt know they made silent fireworks. We love going to see displays but they are incredibly loud for little ones and animals.

I am sitting here alone watching tv and knitting. The incessant banging for the last 4 hours is driving me loopy, as it did yesterday and probably will tomorrow. I am sure they could find some middle ground and do away with the bangs, just wooshes and whistles would be acceptable.

Lynibis it's a disgrace they shouldn't be allowed to sell them to early they have been going of for weeks in my area drives you mad lol

Lynibis I've lost count since when fireworks started and the government nor the police seem concerned about it to put an end to it.

1, 2, or 3 days? Okay, but every day?? Fireworks are meant to celebrate something wonderful, not have it go off every day for God knows why. This makes New Year firework celebration kind of pointless.

I'm tired, annoyed, and exhausted of hearing them. 🤮

Silent or at least low noise would be good. Maybe in some areas fireworks are confined to a few nights a year, but around here (large city) I hear them going off year round and during the daytime. Around bonfire night and NYE it's like a constant war zone.

jdible Banning fireworks would ruin for people who respect the laws and society.

Banning isn't the solution, verifying and restricting could be.

The displays this year weren't silent where we live. We showed our son, he looked at one of them and walked away! Our dog doesn't care about fireworks, she doesn't even react to them.

kate1310 we are very lucky, our dog has never bothered about them. She barked the first year she heard them and then just ignored them. Our son has always ignored the fireworks. He would sleep right through them. He is nearly 4, but has no interest. Your poor wee grand daughter, it must be quite scary for them.

I think they should be silent only due to the amount of animals / people who are scared of the loud bangs. They can still be enjoyed lighting up the sky. I think the problem round where i live is the people setting them off for weeks before or after.

MISSMESSY Even if moderately silent you could probably still hear them.

Today, thankfully, no fireworks. I hope it stays that way.

I think this outdated concept of fireworks should be banned from public sale altogether. If you want to enjoy a few bangs then go to a licensed public display. Fireworks cause so much misery to many animals as well as people. Allowing them only at licensed displays will allow people to prepare in advance as well as ease the strain off fire fighters and the police. Times have moved on.

RegularComper90 yes after reading all the dreadful storys thats happened they should just do away with them unless it's a firework display some people are so stupid with them was reading about all the phone calls and arrest absolutely disgusting people can't enjoy bonfire night now wastes it for others

kate1310 Guns used to be legal in the U.K. before, but now if you see/read about one it's likely being used illegally. Citizens have been stripped more or less of self-defense measures due to people using for violent reasons.

Fireworks are going down the same path, sigh. And they're not even meant to be a weapon.

PhilipMarc Yes, I can see fireworks being banned from public sale at some point in the near future. Sadly, too many people use them for the wrong reasons now and I can't see how that can be regulated. It's also more like Bonfire season nowadays, rather than just Bonfire night.

I live in a village and we had the most horrendous night here, I couldn't calm my youngest dog at all, he must have barked more or less non stop for nearly 4 hours, it was so stressful, we were absolutely shattered afterwards, and with the morons on the news throwing them at innocent people, it's about time something is done about them!
