The Sloping Toilet
In the News
As predicted, it’s not been received well, especially if employers intend to use it to ensure staff do not take too long in the loo
Omg, what next. That is definitely something I never thought I would read. Where I work you get timed how long you spend in the toilet through the course of the day, I think that's bad enough. Management of course does not get timed.
Very true. I have read another article where the focus was more on ensuring people using it won’t get piles, but I know that’s just a way they’re trying to swing it - they just don’t want staff taking too long
hspexy I must admit I did have a giggle one day when a male member of staff hod gone to use the toilet and got quizzed when he came back (personally I would have been mortified) but he stood there and bold as brass said 'I needed a s**t' his manager went as red as a beetroot and it wasnt mentioned to him again
Janhrrs it’s bad but I know it happens, especially in larger organisations where people are just ‘numbers’. One guy told me he worked in a call centre where they had to log out of their phones with the number ‘3’ if they needed a loo break - there was one time a poor guy had tummy issues, and his manager called him into a meeting the week after to question why he had ‘number 3’ breaks so frequently. Very embarrassing
I’m pretty sure most companies would not want the expense of changing all their toilets. Plus what would the disabled loo be like? Anyone with a slight disability would just slide off it and end up on the floor needing to be rescued!!! That would use up even more time.
Sometimes we have no choice but to spend a long time on the bog. It all depends on how long our bowel movements take. I am sure that even employers have poos every now and then and have been constipated.
And what about people with IBS? Employees with Crohns Disease? Ladies going through that time of the month? Sometimes how long you spend in the toilet isn't a choice. I don't approve.
As someone with a back condition I would not be able to use a toilet like this, any undue pressure on my spine is catastrophic for me. I am also totally against anyone timing me - doing anything!
