Where to Take Someone on a First Date?

Ask a Question

I know alot of this dating stuff nowadays is online but it would still be nice to go out somewhere.

Pinkspirit that's a great idea (exhibition or gallery) so there is something to talk about incase you end up stuck for something to say.

How about going to the cinema then you’ve both got something to chat about afterwards.

Pjran I am three years a widow and enjoying my freedom after many years caring around the clock so not in a hurry to re-engage as it were. I think I spent all my energies in my turbulent and ebullient youth lol.

MelissaLee1 sorry to hear that But your question implies that you want to start dating. I know it’s not easy being a widow.

Pjran Swings and Roundabouts as they say.Nights are lonely but life is more flexible and I have lots to keep me busy.I have male friends but no desire to commit just yet.I'm a little too stuck in my ways now.

I went bowling on my first date with my fiancé many moons ago. If you can still fancy someone wearing ugly bowling shoes then you’re onto a winner 🤣

If it’s cold a museum or gallery for things to look at and talk about. Cinema but you can’t talk while watching film unless you go to cafe before or after it. A walk somewhere.

Many years ago my first date took me to an airport for a drink. Also to watch the planes take off and land. He got dumped after a dreadful night out.

When I first started dating we used to go for walks, ride bikes and even go roller skating in the park. We often met at the swimming baths or hung out at funfairs ,picture houses and slow dances at school and church discos. I seem to recall lots of house parties when I was in my teens but we had to be home by a certain time and the men always had to see us home safe or at least see us to the bus stop or put us in a cab.

I went on a pottery making & decorating class for a first date a long time ago. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I was rather good at it as I had done it a few times before. As it goes when I noticed his vase was more a very wonky bowl 😂 I messed mine up slightly so he didn't feel so bad but still had a laugh & a good day out until a few weeks later he was telling my mate about it & she says was the one on my unit the one he made & I said no I made it. To which she replied "that's sh** compared to the ones you done last year" I couldn't stop laughing & had to explain myself. Thankfully he found it really funny. We didn't end up together but did become good friends and still talk about it now🤣

On a first date it is probably good to actually do an activity so there is less chance of awkward silences. The normal, cinema, bowling but a bit more adventurous ice skating is great to get close to someone or go ape can be challenging and fun. Escape rooms are great for communicating but could land in a row!
