Something Tom Said - Members Showing Interest

Other

Tom said in a recent post 'Member to Member chats' that "if enough people show interest we can certainly explore its feasibility some more" which got me thinking πŸ€” Just a suggestion on a line and see how many 'likes' it gets.

If you like a suggestion 'LIKE' it.

I like this - over a period of time you just know who you'd happily chat with.

lilyflower I personally don't like the idea of member to member chat function. But liking a chat topic would be better idea. You don't really know who that person is behind that keyboard.

Ann1984 I think it could work, with the option of blocking any member you don't wish to or no longer want to chat to.

Ann1984 you don't necessarily know who a person really is behind the mask that is their face either, even if you think you do.

lilyflower This could be a good idea but it could promote negative behaviour which is probably why Insta/FB haven’t endorsed this yet!

In replace of this I would suggest maybe emoji reactions to posts (similar to FB)

That would certainly be an interesting thing to see implemented and see how people react to it.

My suggestion would be members being rewarded extra in addition to the points they get for posting the deal if their deal is then popular/trending. It rewards members who post good deals.

To add, if people were able to chat and form their own group chats, there should be something that limits their ability to like comments to get each other more points. Maybe you can only chat if you add each other as friends and if you are friends you would get reduced points if you like a friends post?

Just trying to avoid people getting into groups and liking comments just so they can gain extra points!

I would also be worried that some folk would use this as a tool to abuse someone whose comment they hadn't agreed with knowing no one else would be able to read it.

Also if people start communicating in little cliques it would be unkind and unfair that the general membership would be excluded, unable to comment (or even see?) a conversation they would like to be part of. So sorry lilyflower but unless I have totally misunderstood the concept I am not sure I would like this.

Hi LynibisI'm not sure which bit or is it all of it you wouldn't like?

1)Member to Member chats.

2)Being able to 'like' the original post

3)Being able to posts and or comments

MsLamboLova12 there is already a group page set up for latest deals on telegram. You can go there and message members separately.

Lynibis agree there is telegram latest deal group chat if people won't to chat privately. Here is a community I think liking is a good idea of an original post but private members messaging each other it's a no go sorry.

lilyflower sorry I didn't go back to your OP but was reading all the replies. It's really only no. 1 for the reasons I gave. Certainly ok with liking posts. If it means clicking on someone's name to leave a message only they can see would be worried about abuse and rudeness and just basically leaving others out of a post that is already up and running. But not sure how it would work so I may be talking out of my proverbial.

Ann1984 Sorry but you've got me totally confused. Yesterday with reference to Member to Member chat you said "You don't really know who that person is behind that keyboard". Today you tell me "there is telegram latest deal group chat if people won't to chat privately" What is the difference between the two? What is 'telegram'? Some members may not have Instagram, twitter, facebook, telegram.

lilyflower latest deals switched from what's app to telegram for there daily deals and glitches there are rules to the group just like in here.

https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/telegram

It's a group but there is a option to private message a member I never used it but have know to people in group being targeted by bullying.

It just surprises me that those who want to chat privately haven't heard of "emails" or even telephone.

I know of two ways that another person can be informed of your own email (or phone number) quite safely. I wouldn't disclose either of those ways to anybody who couldn't work out at least one of them for themself. Some people need protecting from themselves.πŸ˜€
