Spas, We've Got Spas

Ask a Question

Are you one of what appears to be half of the UK population buying these spas? They're not cheap and I thought this was a time in which people are losing income.

I just wondered why.

Did you just buy one because other people did?

Is it because people are bored with lockdown? Have they become cheaper this summer?

Are they a replacement for your summer holiday?

I'm just trying to get my head round it.

I was thinking the same is it keep up with the Jones. They cost a bomb to run and the upkeep of them. Personally I wouldn't won't one even if was free my water bill be though the roof. But each to their own

Ann1984 iPhone in one hand, proescco in the other, Audi on the driveway and now a spa in the back garden. It's definitely keeping up with The Joneses for some owners.

Not quite sure what you are asking. Have you heard or read that lots of people are buying in advance for spa days or gift boxes or something?

I don't know anyone who has and have only been once in my life. Whilst it was fairly pleasant it is not something I would rush to do unless my friends/relatives wanted me to go with them. To be honest I can do all that at home except for the massage and I must admit I did feel 'looser' after neck and back was done.

It isn't something my generation had so don't miss it.

Edit: Oh you mean a hot tub??? Well I have to say both my sons have bought one and have been thoroughly enjoying it during this lovely weather.

I realised after reading Ann's post which went up as I wrote mine lol!

Lynibis I'm asking what the attraction is. You've certainly confirmed my views though and I'm from a slightly younger generation!

I wouldn't get one.

It's like bug city in one of those things.

I think they are safer and cleaner than a swimming pool as you are sharing with family members only whose medical conditions you are aware of. Like everything they have to be looked after and cleaned and the water is chlorinated just like a swimming pool.

My son sent a pic of him sitting in it raising a glass of wine on his birthday during lockdown!

I think loads of people have lots more leisure time this summer - especially those now working from home. So they can probably hop into their spa at the same time as they'd usually be travelling home from work.
