Are You Spending Less on Mother's Day?
Ask a Question
Are you looking at spending less on Mother's Day this year due to the cost of living?
Maybe you are choosing to eat at home instead of going out or not doing gifts this year?
We always have a dinner at home so that won't change. I got my mum's present on offer so saved some money on it. I've already told my husband not to get me anything from our son.
Unfortunately my mum passed away on Christmas day 2021. But I've still got a lovely card and will put lots of new flowers on her grave on mother's day. I miss her every second of every day.
I bet you still miss her as much now as you did in 2011. I believe only special people are taken on Christmas day.
My late Auntie Janet died Christmas night 2018, she was a special person who always looked after others..
She was an Auxiliary Nurse, later a Warden at an Care Home, then built up a shop from a dilapidated old hut along with her husband & ran it .she used to go to the Gym 4 times a week in her 70's & have her hair done once a week too. Auntie Jan & her husband also looked after her two Great Grandchildren while their parents worked & they were in their 70's!
Unfortunately she then had Alzheimer's, went into a Nursing Home for 8 years & passed away after they suffered a Novavirus Outbreak which killed 4 people..
My cousin rang me to give me the sad news her beloved mum had passed away on Christmas Night..
16/3/23
It would have been my Auntie Jan birthday today..x
That's a lovely idea to remember your lovely Mum..
I miss my Mum every day, she died 13 years ago..x
My partners working, my mum is working and my son has football at 9am on mother's day so it will be just another Sunday for me.
Celebrate it another day when it's more convenient to you all, I'm celebrating it the following weekend when our only child is home from Uni..
This weekend I'm celebrating my Irishness & will raise a glass to my brother Patrick & friend Ann as they Celebrate their St Patrick's Day Birthdays.
Patrick's named after our late Dad, NOT the day he was born..
janphoenix51 that's a fab idea! I hope you have a great St Patrick's day celebration
Midnightflower...Hope so too despite the weather, at least it's not snowing like last weekend!! x
My mother passed 14 years ago and yet I still get a card and put it next to her ashes every mothers day , birthday I know people would think I'm crazy for doing it but so be it I'm waiting to see what I get this year
Until you lose your Mum, you can't understand. Me and my sisters always make sure there are flowers on my Mums grave for those special occasions. They may be gone but not forgotten.
Just hoping to see my son on Mother's Day and maybe s bunch of daffodils, as these are my favorite and don't cost a fortune.
You remember your Mum how you want to, it's not for others to judge, carry on remembering your Mum in your special way..x
I can’t understand as my mums still here but we go to put flowers on my sisters grave on Mother’s Day as mum says she’d probably be a mum if she’d been alive today. Unfortunately she was knocked down and killed by drunk driver at age of 14 almost 39yrs ago.
With mothers day and fathers day we try to do something different . Our mission is to do something which costs nothing . So it might be use a voucher and get something which is free . We grow in the garden all year round and on the 2 days a year we take veg and use it towards a meal .
Our children will do jobs which me or my wife will normally do .
That's an excellent idea, love your thinking on this.
Everything is rocketing..
Stamps are going up to £1.10 for First Class & 75p for Second Class from April 3rd..
All this for a second class service!!
Yes...My Mother passed away 13 years ago & partner's Mum passed away 10 years ago.
I'm off this week & off to celebrate ST PATRICK'S WEEKEND with my friends in Manchester..
I will celebrate Mothers Day the following weekend when our only child is home from University, her & I are off to see The Clash Tribute Band..
Daughter has just rung asking me if I can wait til she gets home the following weekend before opening the present she's bought & sent me, I said yes, of course..
Not due to the cost of living but because for us it's about togetherness rather than splashing the cash
My mother passed away but when she was here I had a lot of double dunt gifts to buy, as I've always bought something for my missus from the weans, they both had the same Birthdays in March, which meant that I had double Christmas, Birthdays and Mothers Day to buy for before March was out, but Thank God I only had to buy one Valentines Gift, so I'll probably be spending more because of the crazy prices increases.
Luckily I got chance to spend less this yr on my mum for Mother’s Day. With price of everything at min I just can’t afford as much as usual but I still didn’t want present to look cheap so I got great deal through this site. Must admit it’s great for super deals
I always make a card with my grandchildren for their mums and intend to make one for my mum this year. Hope she likes it
Not really I'm taking me and mum n kids out for few hrs either by bus or train then we will have meal out.
I got her daffodils direct from a Cornish farm that sells them on eBay, they're her favourite flowers and so cheap and cheerful
jojochinaski I always have daffodils growing in my garden and collect a few for my mum but this year so far i only have two!
All I want from adult children is a card and to see them. They usually buy me something but I never expect them to. For my own mother I usually find a discounted place to take her out, last year I took her to Linton Park and had a lovely day with a picnic.
