We usually have one maybe once a month but most of ours are closed. Since the coronavirus ive been put off because its delivery only, my oven broke last night and i ordered a have away at 6pm, it arrived at 10.09pm! They where so busy they pulled the phone lines, i didnt know if we where even getting tea 🙈. We only wanted a mushroom curry, chips and boiled rice to share with me and my daughter! Wont be ordering another while this is still going on

No...we totally cut down on eating out and make more food at home. Supermarket shopping is more expensive because can not shop around.

It seems illogical and ironic to have more takeaways during lockdown when we all supposedly have loads more free time to cook and are bored.

Personally I don't trust the hygiene in takeaways at the best of times and I certainly wouldn't accept random food deliveries from strangers whose recent history with Corvid I do not have a clue about.....madness.

That's why the bigger boys have introduced contact free del.

Yahya I would imagine that more than one person is involved in making, dispatching and delivering, and we have to trust that their hygiene is up to scratch. I am sorry but I don't. Most people don't care about the result of their actions (or non actions) on strangers.

Lynibis Well the big boys are extremely busy and so are the smaller takeaways so the evidence suggest otherwise..

Yahya I am sure they are but that would only say that customers are not overly concerned about the things that trouble me. Maybe I am over cautious but given how easily this thing spreads, I don't think you can be too careful.

No. We haven't a takeaway during lockdown. We have been cooking from scratch. We have been spending more on food in our food shop as there are less promotions on, we can't always get the value ranges and you can't shop around at the moment.

Living almost next door to a Indian takeway we would have at least one takeaway a week but since lockdown not had a single one. We are cooking more instead, Iv made a curry from scratch most weekends. I'm not really missing them either tbh.

We haven't had any takeaways. I saw how close a customer got to the lady serving food from the front door of our local chippy. It put me right off.

I think we're having a little bit less. We've not stopped but we have tried to home cook much more. With fast food places like Mcd & Burger King shut - that's where we're making our savings

I've always preferred eating out rather than ordering food to be delivered. Consequently, I haven't had any takeaways during the lockdown. When I'm at home I like to do my own cooking 🥦

I have not had a take away in over 12 years and then I have 4 in a month!

Basically, the reason for this has been because I have not been able to get any home deliveries of food from my supermarket. Ocado just cancelled my priority order. This resulted in only 2 deliveries in March/April.

Luckily my local coffee shop helped me out and let me order a super-sized bag of rice, gram flour, fresh fruit and veggies. When I saw that coffee shops and restaurants were to be closed, I suggested they offer home ready meals, which have gone down a storm.

I have spent about £100+ on food for home delivery. But it is restaurant quality, healthy and home delivered. Since I could not spend money on food at the supermarket, I have not spent too much over my budget. A little, but we all need to eat!

We are not take away family I like cooking at home, in fact I have for just eat voucher I won but don’t really feel like getting take away as you don’t know how well protected were/are people packing your food, wouldn’t order in current situation at all , not even buying rolls/ bread from bakery as slightly worrying as they not wrapped. Started baking Brad and rolls at home now lol

I have to spend more on food as to get groceries delivered I have to spend more than I would normally to hit the threshold plus delivery charges and that has a huge impact on finances.

Can't afford takeaway so that hasn't had an impact.

Nope, not had any since lockdown. Don't see the need and don't want to risk it with how careful you need to be - even with contact-free delivery I still don't think it's 100% safe and just generally unnecessary

All the takeaways around here are pretty rubbish tbh, so we don't normally get any.

I am missing going out to the local curry house though ☹️. They do a wicked chicken dhansak and however many times I've tried to replicate it, I don't get close.

No, not once. My husband was saying he could have a takeaway last week. So I looked up recipes online and made chicken doner kebab! (with honemade pita too) It was quite easy as well and much healthier.

For the chicken: https://www.recipetineats.com/homemade-chicken-doner-kebab/

For the pitas I used a recipe in French, but there are loads on the net.

And i made a yogurt/garlic/mayo sauce.
