What Do You to to Spread the Cost over Christmas?
Ask a Question
Just wondering how everyone approaches Christmas in regards to spending.
we do a secret Santa with immediate family then only buy properly for the kids. Also looking for offers on kids toys, they have toy cars in Poundland etc.
we also either hold a Christmas at mine or my mums so it’s not the same costs for people every year.
finally I got a cheaper tree from Dunelm £22 for a 6 foot and then just decorated it a lot, it’s not the fanciest in the world but it’s still beautiful.
I save up vouchers from surveys and use them to buy our sons presents. I also use the survey vouchers to buy the food. We buy a present for my parents, mother in law and Granny. I only buy for one of my friends children at Christmas time. I save up in the months leading up to Christmas and use that to pay for the adults presents. I don't go overboard on the food either. Our Christmas tree was bought with survey vouchers and our decorations used to belong to my mother.
Everything is so expensive at Christmas I avoid buying anything that I can avoid, it works out as my cheapest time of year.
I put money on one side each month for Christmas as I can't find it all at once at the end....
I start in January and buy all year round. My sons birthday is a week after Christmas, sisters birthday is the 27th December and mines in January aswell so it's the only way I manage to do it all. I don't like having to rush around in December trying to find gifts so find it much easier to buy it all year round and it gives me time to hunt bargains.
I will not be spending any money on presents for anyone - friends or family. I will blame the recession instead.
I try to spread Christmas shopping over a few months so there’s not one expensive month, look for offers, don’t buy for the sake of it, set a budget for each person I buy for
One thing I'm going to start this year to save money is to purchase all of my Christmas presents for next year in the after Christmas sales - this way it's all reduced and I can buy ahead which will be cheaper in the long run
I save from January, each week I pop a little bit in my 'Xmas account' and I also buy during the year and try to get sale items and put them away.
Must say, latestdeals app helps me SO much - couldn't be without it now!
I start Christmas boxing day every year. Get things in the sale I always make a list with prices and wrap as I go
I do various things, I buy bits throughout the year when on offer, I also have a wee pot I put the odd £1 or £5 in to go towards the turkey and a few presents for nieces & nephews. But I always try to buy things when On offer
