Spring Nature

Ask a Question

I so love this time of year, new life everywhere,

I have a pair of blue **** in my back garden bird box and a family of foxes on my allotment, frogs in my sunken bath pond and in the evenings a whole flock of bats appear from under my neighbours porch roof

I can spend hours just sitting and watching the wildlife this time of year.

Sadly have not seen a hedgehog this year as yet though.

Just wondered what wildlife highlights everyone else has so far this year? Image

I have cats so don’t get a lot of wildlife in our garden. Although the birds keep teasing them. We have a resident badger in our Gore and I hear lots of foxes at night as we are next to a field.

Ooh how nice, badgers are lovely, we used to have a set at the back of my house, but the were relocated as they were undermining the train tracks, that was about 5year ago now

Not seen foxes around here - but we do get lots of deer wandering around the estate. This was taken a few years ago - right outside our front door Image

We have had a few birds in our garden. Don't tend to see a lot of wildlife in our garden because the dog scared them away but they are starting to come back a little bit. We have seen some deer in the local area recently. My parents have red squirrels, pheasants and hedgehogs in their garden just now. There are usually wild rabbits near their house too.

slightfoot they have had red squirrels there since I was a child. I remember visiting with our son, about 3 years ago now and there was a red squirrel on the bird feeder. Our son was fascinated watching it. My parents live in the country so always lots of wildlife near them.

I love this time of year. We don't have foxes or badgers where I am so watch springwatch to get my fix. We go looking for wildlife locally

Jinky67 ...I came home from work one day to find a dead pigeon & all it's feathers on my lawn, I had to clean everything up as my partner was at work til the next day, I didn't like it but I just got on with the job..

Phoenix our little black cat TEARS Mousies apart sometimes...My partner has had to clear up the guts of Mousies before, one there was a body on the patio ( NOT under it...Brookside reference!) & a Mousie's head by the bin which is in the opposite direction!!!

slightfoot , I would freak out if that murder scene had greeted me, I would have screamed the place down & ran away, not going back til my partner had cleaned everything & changed the bedding....

janphoenix51 it was really gross, I threw the pillow out, lol, and the cat was definitely in the dog house, but it's not actually the worst thing Fatboy did, I once came home from work to find a dead seagull wedged in the catflap, I had to cut the wing off to un wedge it, I cried whilst doing it x

slightfoot , Once had to rescue a frog from Phoenix , he's had a baby bat & I think he once brought a Koi Carp home, I found it dead next to our bin when I went outside....I found him sat on a fence 3 homes down looking over to where the pond was!!

slightfoot ...I was out in Sheffield walking around the estate with my service users a few weeks ago when I saw something small making it's way from one side of the road to the other.

I froze thinking it was a RAT but as I got nearer I could see it was an HEDGEHOG, it disappeared under a Hedge!
