How Are You Staying Warm at Home, Do You Heat All Your Rooms?
Money Saving
Do you heat your kitchen?
Is it just me who doesn't have the radiator on in the kitchen? My mum thinks its weird. But if I'm in the kitchen I'm usually busy cooking so have some sort of heat going on. Whether it be the oven or the hob etc.
I always leave the oven door open after turning it off too so the excess heat can go into the room.
I don't have the radiators on in the spare bedroom either and always keep the doors shut to any unheated room.
We've taken to using blankets in the living room too so that we can turn the thermostat down a degree or two. Trust me over a month a couple of degrees makes a big difference.
Anyone else have curtains at their doors to stop any unwanted draughts?
Anyone else have any tips on saving money but keeping warm too.
Anything to save a few extra pennies.
I've turned the radiator off in my daughter's bedroom until she back home again she is at university. I have heating on in kitchen because that's where I iron
I have heating on in the kitchen as that is where the washing dries on the clothes horse and I don't want mould to form. Most people I know have heating on in their kitchen. I also leave the oven door open after cooking, although it isn't on as often anymore as we use the airfryer.
I don't have the heating on in the kitchen as we have an extractor fan which pulls all the heat out, so it seems pointless. We have a curtain at the front door and lots of blankets in the frontroom and bedrooms for extra warmth. I'm hoping to turning the heating off soon.
We heat the house although I have turned the thermostat down to 18. In the evening I use an electric throw, only need it on for half an hour.
The whole property needs to be heated regularly to avoid damp but have turned down the thermostat. I also use a dehumidifier, hot water bottle when sitting for longer periods and in bed and dressing in layers.
I have the radiators on in all of my rooms as I don’t like to have any room cold but then I am lucky as my house is a warm house so my heating is not on every day
Heating on when it gets below 16 degrees. Thermostat is set to 16 so I'm never cold. Radiators are all switched off upstairs too, but every bed has an electric blanket which you can switch on with Alexa. So you're always going up to a warm bed at night and the house is never super cold. Heating only came on a handful of times through the winter. House is 17.8 degrees now and the heating hasn't been on for weeks.
My grandmother sits at home in 25 degrees, even just opening front door feels like peering over the top of an active volcano. Some people feel the cold more than others, but if you keep yourself well fed and active, you simply won't be bothered by the cold. If you skip a meal or just sit around, you can feel cold in what are objectively warm temperatures
We heat every room early afternoon. It's quite a large house with tall ceilings so takes a while to warm up but it is needed otherwise it would be Arctic. Lol
I usually only pop the heating on in the lounge as that's where we spend most of our time, half an hour heats it up lovely, keeping the door shut. Lucky to have a well insulated home.
Never had heaters in any of the kitchens I've rented in all the years I've rented. I have blankets, hot water bottles and 3 heaters in thd house 2 downstairs in the lounge. One on the landing upstairs that heats upstairs
Have not had any heating on for last four days, I find that the sun and a dehumidifier are helpful.
I haven't used my heating for over 3 weeks and that was for visiting friends for film night. I don't see the point of heating the whole house just for me. I will wear 2 or 3 jumpers during the day of I am home (but often out at work) with long sleeve t shirt underneath. In the evening I have a long chenille hooded dressing gown over the lot and when needed the heated blanket. It does make me lazy though!
