A Suggestion for the Site: Ability to Ignore Topics

Other

I think it would be a great idea to have the option to ignore topics, like we do with members. Now and again we may come across topics that we don't like or just have no interest in, or may have difficulty finding topics that we are interested in due to being overshadowed by the more uninteresting ones. For example, some may wish to ignore Christmas related topics or competition related topics if comping isn't your sort of thing. Being able to ignore topics would make the chat section a lot more personalised for each member.

What do you think of this idea?

I just ignore the topics that I'm not interested in by not clicking on them and just scrolling to one that I do find interesting. I don't mind the chat section not being personalised to me. I personalise it by commenting on the ones I'm interested in.

I think that would be a great idea as most of the topics are actually pointless but they seem to take up far too much of my main page, it would also be good if we could group the chats that we have commented on too.

It wouldn't really work even if implemented - posters often place their post in the wrong category. I, and I know many others, tire of "In the news" topics some of which would be better in a "history" category, if there was one.😀

I must admit I assumed from your user name that you were well into competitions that is why I tagged you into a competition related topic...sorry.

I have often scrolled past topics I assumed to be boring or uninteresting but when I have clicked found I had a lot to contribute. Not all titles fully relate to the content.

Just look past the topics you don’t want to read, same goes for offers you’re not interested in.

A better idea would be to have the ability to block members who make negative comments on your posts that are only made to antagonise and disrupt them with no intension of contributing to the subject

Also to stop those making snide remarks on others posts which have nothing to do with the subject

Unfortunately the option to ignore members does not stop them from doing this

telmel A better idea would be to BAN members who post snide remarks about other members, then start whingeing when their victim responds. I saw one instance yesterday where a certain poster was mocking another member's financial position or his ability to play golf (without any reasonable evidence) The same poster commented on a health condition I supposedly had "the voices in his head had told him about" I can assure members of this forum, that any health conditions I have been said to have, HAVE NOT been confirmed by health professionals.

The person I allude to has a very poor grasp of the English language, as he constantly displays by not knowing the difference between "being alone" and "lonely".

This is supposedly a CHAT FORUM and those who think only those who agree with them should be allowed to comment on their posts, perhaps need to find somewhere else.

telmel Seems to me you started the disruption of this particular post ( as usual 😒) - then feebly attempt to blame others ? I can only presume it is because you have used up your one "non news" topic for the day so must garner your daily points on other posts ?

telmel Are you going to all the other topics you've spoiled with your snide comments or misinformation. If you want any help finding them I've saved quite a few. You have no need to bother about the one on introduce yourself (where I've never posted) where you went whingeing to TOM. Somebody removed that comment for you. Many forums would have removed you too for BLATANTLY posting off topic.

FYI: "Introduce Yourself" is for members to introduce themselves not as a Contact Admin feature.

My only complaint to admin about you was when you actually seriously defamed me and another member. If it ever happens again I will be taking more action than complaining to admin.

davidstockport Silly man, i have never posted any details on introduce yourself, i have always said you can give too much information away on there for potential scammers

If you have a complaint try to direct it towards moderation instead of an attempted lengthy character assassination on someone else's post , many thanks

Golfforall He is like a school bully - running to the headmaster when anyone stands up to him. It isn't unknown for him to edit his posts without any mention they've been edited to try to deny having said many things to start trouble. One day admin might look at the unedited versions of some of his posts and do something about it.
