Is an electric fan or an air cooler better?

Trying to think ahead about if we experience another heatwave this summer. Last year’s tower fan seemed to blow/burn out and doesn’t work any longer. Can’t afford air conditioning so which is better tower fan or an air cooler? I’ve not had the latter before.

I’ve always just used a fan and parked myself infront of it on especially hot days. Just make sure you buy one before the heat wave cause it’s a nightmare finding one during
