Have You Taken Christmas Decorations down Yet?
Ask a Question
This morning we have taken our Christmas decorations down.
The house seems bare and now I need to clean everywhere. When the cards are being displayed I don’t dust, lazy I know but at least it doesn’t show.
My husband is up in the loft bedding the decorations down for another year.
I am normally the last to take my decorations down but we took them down yesterday and the relief was wonderful. We have 2 kittens who are large breed and have been a nightmare with them and been very annoyed about being shut out of a room at night for their own safety. Peace reigns again
Pjran climbing the tree was the least of it, my granddaughter thought it was hilarious waking up in the mornings to find where they had hidden all the baubles they took off the tree. First day it went up,a set of lights blew but at that point we hadn't picked up on their obsession. A few days later another set went, my husband looked up to see one of them proudly strutting out from under the tree carefully carrying the hot lightbulb he had removed!
I never put any up so don't need to worry about taking them down. The Christmas cards got taken down yesterday.
My mum normally takes hers down on the 2nd. She didn't put that many up this year so didn't take her long.
My husband would be quite happy not to have any decorations up. I usually make large foliage arrangements to go on the fireplace so I’m beginning to be more organic. No tinsel anywhere this year.
Yes I took my decorations down yesterday, all packed up and deposited back into the loft. Just leaving a couple of ornaments out as i'm superstitious. Great to have a proper hoover and dust around, totally blitzed the house and wow doesn't the room look so much bigger? Always lovely to put the decs up but once Christmas days over and all the presents have disappeared from around the tree it's not the same. Never mind not too long and they'll be back up again. ha ha.
The only thing I miss is the front door wreath, love that with all the red berries and greenery.
Took ours down this evening & did a general dust & hoover. I will give the place a good blitz throughout tomorrow. After NY it's all over.
Ours were supposed to come down today, but after work today (first day back) I could't be jiggered
Yep. They came down today. Still need to put them all away though, but that can wait a little!
I dont want to take mine down....they just look so lovely...but tradition is the 12th night after christmas...not that im a follower but my house needs a good clean....just not today lol.
Glad you’re pleased with your decoration. I wasn’t impressed with my door wreath this year so I must do better next Christma.
I intend getting the vacuum out tomorrow.
We didn't put a tree up this year because I've not been well so all we've done is have our fiber optic musical snowman and cards up which I still haven't taken down yet. Maybe next Christmas we'll have the tree up
I took mine down on New Years Eve as we had a party and I needed the space plus didn't want any broken
I didn't even put any up this year. I don't always put decorations up; it depends on how busy I am. I have a couple of Christmas cards up still which I'll bin in a few days.
They're down today, we're all hoovered and dusted and my sitting room looks so much bigger, emptier and boring
Tradition, since the Victorian era, is to remove Christmas decorations on Twelfth Night (January 5th).
It's unlucky to take them down before then.
Here's why:

came Home from work Friday to the job already done! My other half must have been bored because he even cleaned out a few kitchen cupboard.
All down this weekend, will be glad to have them away now I think! I do miss the lights though I like having different coloured lights up
