Should the Term Billionaire Not Exist?

Ask a Question

Does anyone else agree with that?

Why do you need to have some much money? what do they actually spend it on? or is it a case of just hoarding money?

Some people have more money than countries GDP, like wtf! What is out there that you need so much money?

Dennab I spend the £8 because of things i cant do is priced too high. I work full time but i will never be able to or even get the chance to do multiple things because it involves spending money and as certain people keep getting richer and richer the divide between rich and poor will get bigger and bigger.

Getsome You're making them rich with that £8 a month. If you don't like them being rich, don't give them money! It's that simple.

Getsome have a read of this page before you continue making assumptions about what people should be allowed to have in their bank account: https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/13/philanthropy-50-how-much-bezos-gates-zuckerberg-charities-gave-away.html. I suspect you contribute to at least three of their fortunes.

It should never got to a point where a billionaire is praised for giving away 1% of there money to charity. There is enough money in the world to resolve debt and poverty. Every issue in the world usually has money at its source in some way and the greed of billionaires unbelievable. You will call me hypocritcal by saying i get amazon prime, which ok is a bit hypocritical but then can you find me a way to travel the world cheap and how to run a car on minimum costs? Thats without working myself to the bone doing multiple jobs? Billionaires just hoard money for no reason other than looking like a selfish knob while people are starving around the world! Also i saw an article about people going into space, can you tell how everyone is going to afford that or will it be only available to the rich. The billionaires are controlling what we do and people cant see it. Can you also tell me how to grow green legally when alcohol is available?

Getsome i dont believe alcohol should be legal. If you mean cannabis when you say green thats a plant that should be legalised

Getsome How can you possibly know that there is enough money to do anything? That's an impossible statement to make unless you can somehow see into the future. If you can, let me know what Saturday's lottery numbers are because I could quite easily spend a few million right now. Poverty is not solved by money. It is solved by attacking the root cause. It is solved by educating people.

Getsome Do you want a luxury boat for this? Many people travel the world in an old campervan that is worth less than £ 10,000.

There are a few things to consider:

- Many billionaires have their wealth tied to the company's value. That is, if the company devalues 80% in one week on the stock exchange, his fortune will also be reduced. Jeff Bezos does not have a bank account of 130 billion, from which he can withdraw at any time, his fortune is Amazon shares.

- Large companies trade their shares on the stock exchanges to finance the company itself. If you are against big companies, you can invest in Ethical Shares, these funds are everywhere and anyone can invest in ethical, green companies, etc.

Which bank do you have an account with? Have you heard of Triodos Bank? They only invest in ethical companies, companies that respect the environment, etc. Change starts with people. If everyone dreams of having a Ferrari or an iPhone, as a status symbol, logically these companies will have their shares valued.

chelseaturpin so would that be billionaires not wanting to lose money when nearly everyone could grow your own medical supplies? Strange that when some people don’t think billionaires are dangerous to society. This is just one aspect.

Getsome well as I have said in previous comments they have been around since man has been around, super wealthy and peasants. But it seems you do not want to listen to reasoned argument, just go round in circles even when answers to your questions are given. If they are dangerous then we have obviously learned to live with the danger and personally, at the moment, I would sooner have them than covid.

No one disagrees that it is disgraceful that 5% of the population own 95% of the wealth but as I and many others have said you can't just take it away, it is called free enterprise and change comes from within. Trouble with long topics like this is that no one bl**dy well reads what has gone before and you have a closed mind to every single explanation given and instead take it that we all like having loads of billionaires living the life of riley!!!!!!

Lynibis people do disagree and are more focused on the lower end of the scale. I’m never going to agree billionaires should exist because there is t any real reasons they should. The divide between the rich and the poor will get worse and worse. If you disagree with billionaires owning 95% of the wealth do you have any suggestion on how it could be rectified without restricting the poor?

I will tell you what is unfair. It is not unfair for someone to be a billionaire if that person is an entrepreneur and has created a successful business. It is unfair for someone to own a business, which uses the work of Asian or African children, or a mobile that is produced in China by someone who does not earn the minimum to survive and works 18h a day. We are to blame for this. We all know how Primark clothes are produced, but everyone continues to buy there, including lining up during the lockdown, for example.

Getsome The problem with all of your arguments and this topic generally is everything you say coming across as a bit 'Miss World' but with less substance behind it. You say billionaires should only be millionaires but haven't once answered how that is possible if you want to continue receiving all the consumer products and services you pay for. Somebody has to be at the top. What phone do you own?

Dennab I know people are going to be at top but shouldn’t be at the billionaire point. They don’t need that much money, they don’t need multiple cars or boats or planes to never use. It’s not success it’s just pure greed when the lower end are suffering and struggling to survive. It’s a competition of who has the most money with others suffer. Everyone should work but not work for pennies so they have more disposable income to enjoy an existence

Dennab I would give up, this guy is doing my head in. He is incapable of reasoned argument, he cannot bear another's point of view and even when you answer him he still goes on. I hope he hasn't got a wife, I doubt she would get a word in edgeways and never be able to win an argument. I have lost count of the times I have said I agree that in an ideal world there shouldn't be billionaires but he has no answer as to how to bring it about. Now going on about past governments but as I have said several times there have always been billionaires although the divide is relevant to the time we are speaking of, as in my previous comment about Caesar. He was a sisterces billionaire. He will keep going round in circles until we stop commenting.

Dennab I do not have a clue tbh.

But things have to change.

You've got turds like Branson and Dyson who have been taking the absolute pee out of the UK tax system for years and then taken their companies away.

And then there's the absolute SUPER ****, Mike Ashley. What an absolute piece of tihs.

It's a class system atm, but some people don't help themselves, they all feel entitled.

I know this from the scum part of my family who have never worked in their lives and keep on lying to get benefits.
