Tesco Delivery Saver. Should We Get Reimbursed?

Ask a Question

A lot of us are signed up to Tesco delivery saver.

Seeing as we can only seem to place an online order every 3-4 weeks (if at all), should Tesco give us our money back?

What do you think of this?

In my opinion yes they should for sure. They are not providing the service you paid for so they have broken the terms and conditions. It doesn't matter if circumstances in the world have caused this they have failed to provide the service. Besides supermarkets are profiteering at the moment, because so many are now using online shopping the supermarkets are swamped with orders and so there is very incentive to provide discounts. The supermarkets are one of the few businesses that will do well at the moment along with funeral directors and tv subscription services.

yes....they should.

I think Amazon also should suspend charge for Prime members, because they do not deliver prime things next day and also they moved everything to Fresh so u can not find essentials in Prime anymore.

Oh that's a good point about Amazon. It might be worth contacting them and seeing what they can do. Some of the delivery wait times are crazy long.

AgnesFaludi Smaller retailers are losing enough money so Amazon really should suffer a bit as well. I wonder what Jeff Bezos is doing to help with the COVID-19 efforts. He could build a new hospital with his lose change!

Definitely should. Give them a call to see what they say. I’m sure in this situ they should honour it. If not go to higher powers to complain

They'll could use this:

Our Delivery Saver guarantee

"If you spend more on a plan than you would’ve done on deliveries, we’ll email you an eCoupon with the difference within 21 days of your plan ending"

from https://www.tesco.com/deliverysaver/

In other words "you're not out of pocket if you took out a plan and we can't fulfill what was advertised, due to exceptional circumstances, so what's your problem!" ☺

I'd guess though that as a good will gesture they'll make some allowance - they don't want to lose customers.

I don't pay for this, but I think they should refund you. Other companies have refunded for services affected.

The most likely result is likely to be to extend the time that's been charged for, but I don't think a full refund would be enforcable if a person has already used part of the delivery service they paid for.

davidstockport well yeah, I didn't mean a full refund, just for the affected time. Or as you say, extended subscription period.

Ann1984I was trying Iceland - they only book for six days ahead - the SAT SUN slots became available just a short time ago - I'd been trying all day, then hadn't checked for about twenty minutes and all slots had been taken when I looked. Fortunately my next door neighbour phoned a few hours ago and offered to get some things for me. They're not too young themselves.

It's a bit stupid really they've asked us not to buy more than we need to leave stuff for others - then put a minimum price before we can order online. Then Iceland say they'll only deliver to those who are vulnerable because of age or medical conditions, minimum price is £25 and that's about the lowest to be found. With free delivery for orders over £35. Image .

Ann1984 There are people much worse off than I am - so I'll let them get any available help first. I'm not even out of milk yet, It's when I get down to the two pint bottle in my freezer (in a few days) that panic will set in☺

Sanitation1234 There are several reasons Tesco are OUT OF THE QUESTION:

They have a £40 minimum spend (There is no way I could use up £40 of goods - and I don't intend making matters worse for others by wasting food or stock piling).

I am not signed up with them (even if I wanted to be). They are only catering for families - not people on their own. (as are most online suppliers).

This picture shows yet another reason. Image

davidstockport Thanks for your reply I just seen and read your comment you don’t need it sign up with them I mean Tesco .i just can’t explain how bad I am feeling right now I didn’t know they only catering for families as you said . they shouldn’t do that. you are right people are wasting food and stock pilling they don’t even think for others . I am sorry for that because we have so many Tesco in Birmingham when I click for delivery it was available for me I didn’t order anything we have everything only maybe we have to go for milk or bread . yesterday on latest deal site one of our mods they post a deal Uber eat can deliver important things like bread eggs milk . try that one you might get one delivery from your local stores I mean off-licence and corner shop they doing at the moment.I did share that link to my family and friends . I hope everything will be fine soon take care of yourself . if wrote anything wrong please forgive me i am not feeling well today 🙏🏻😊

Sanitation1234 I don't have a local shop - although I have an Aldi (where I usually shop) about a three minute walk away. BUT I am in a category that has been ordered not to leave my home. I actually got a text from UK Government 8 days ago it started: "New rules in force now: You must stay at home". I've mentioned my next door neighbours have offered to get things for me (so my problem isn't too bad). There are many people who are self isolating who are probably much worse off than me. I'm doing my best to help them too. It isn't until someone can organise a simple system which gets reasonably nutritious things to those isolated that things will get better, there are far too many people "talking the talk" and not doing a thing to help those who are worse off and not lifting a finger, other than to help themselves. There are however many who are helping - and I hope I can be included in that number, I would like to thank all those who volunteered to help me help those who might just like someone to chat to by telephone, total isolation can be depressing for some, unfortunately I can't. . . not one single response. Im 'not on the list' of priority people with sainsburys or seemingly anywhere else) even though ive several disabling/medical conditions, registered as such on DWP- whom sainsburys are supposed to be working with, so i dont know how youre expected to get these 'vulnerable persons' slots, its easier for them to identify pensioners, due to date of birth- gives a phone number to tell sainsburys but you cant get through,or even speak to anyone,it just goes round in a circle& disconnects.YAY!! IM ON THE PRIORITY LIST!!

I hope you're luckier than me with Iceland - they should stop splashing "Free Next Day Delivery if you spend over £35" all over the place if they know they can't deliver. I wasted a lot of time selecting what I wanted then found that there were no delivery slots available. They should let you be able to check first.
