Tesco Uses Security Barriers to Stop Shoppers Snatching Yellow Sticker Items

Ask a Question

I like a yellow sticker item as much as the next person but how bad are things getting if staff don't feel safe putting the items out ?

Isn't it ironic that they are putting barriers on their cheap/discounted stuff rather than the expensive items....

InaShah reading between the lines people are grabbing the cheap stuff, for the more expensive stuff, shoplifters are a little more subtle 😀

Doesn't look very secure. 🤨

Some people go crazy fighting for reduction, the employer has a duty of care to protect the staff.

Howmuch That's if they respect those yellow borders. Maybe a security guard would be more effective.

PhilipMarc The reduction done off the shop floor and pushed out on a long trolley by the security guard, to make it safe for staff and customers. Or bring out only a small amount of items at a time to reduce crowds.

It is really sad that staff don't feel safe. I will look at the reduced items when I go in but I would never dream of standing there watching the staff as they mark it down

MrsCraig I shop monthly at Sainsbury's online and the best value items are generally Hubbard's brand. I'm guessing a lot don't like it because it's too cheap or something.

Same goes for Asda's yellow colored cheap items. They're actually really good, and cheap.

Im not surprised to be honest, we all like a bargain, but some people go to far.

I shop in Tesco regularly and the yellow stickers is not worth fighting for. Occasionally they might reduce some items by 75% off around 7-8pm. It's the same type of people flooding their trollies with these products.

They have been doing this in our local Asda since the start of Covid 19. It can get very volatile around that area. The staff deserve to be protected in their job.

I like Tesco's but their reductions seem the worst, its like 5-10% off in my local store for most of the day but it is a very busy store with a lot of customers. A different Tesco store which is never as busy seems to have better reductions.

I have seen people almost pushing others out of the way to get to the bargains. It’s even worse if it’s the last reduction of the day when you really can get some bargains. It would be quite difficult to put the yellow stickers on anywhere else as they are reducing products that are already on the shop floor.

I don’t blame them for using the barriers. The poor people that do the yellow stickering almost risk injury from people fighting for a bargain and to be honest I’d rather go without than battle for an item I don’t really want just because it’s been reduced by 10p ! My local Tesco seem to reduce prices by very little anyway.
