Do You Think This is Fair

In the News

Another Coronavirus topic sorry guys but this one I think is a bit unfair. Italy now on lockdown but allowing brits to travel back how will the uk get this virus under control if half of the people returned have virus.

they saying elderly to avoid going out but who’s to say that one of these is a postman and delivered that eldely person their post

What do you think of this?

If Italy is in lockdown, no one goes in and no one comes out, only way to try and contain it. China should have been put in lockdown as soon as this was identified as being serious. Like you say Ann, who knows where and what these Brits do - NHS/supermarkets/post people/bus drivers/hotel workers? It only takes ONE to keep spreading.

Ann1984 Brits should not be going and those that are there stay for a extended holiday. All travel to and from infected countries should be stopped.

KijManhas its not for points wouldn’t bother me if don’t get the 20 points this topic is fresh and people don’t need to read though numerous comments that when you get to the end it’s like that chat has become a dating topic I do hope in future that points for chats are removed

KijManhas this is a major news topic and it changes by the hour. (I've had no points for any of my comments in this thread because I've used my daily limit, it doesn't stop me joining in).

It's true that in many cases there are too many topics on the same subject - but in this case as there are so many aspects to it, and new things emerging every day, that it's going to be a topic for discussion, for quite some time.

In all this no one seems to have mentioned money, the biggest transmitter of disease, changing hands dozens of times daily.

Quite agree, money is the dirtiest thing going and people just pass it on. But we don't have time or patience to clean hands after every money transaction. Contactless is the way to go.

Lynibis It has been suggested that contactless payments should be used, I already do but have also decided to have "folding cash" in £5 notes that's so that if I need to use cash I will never be given "folding money" in change. Apparently the newish plastic money can act almost as a petri dish (as can the screens of phones), my folding cash has now gone past the three days that viruses can survive on it.

I don't think coinage carries quite the same risk. many years ago I read that micro organisms couldn't survive too long on copper or brass.

JUST Confirmed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimicrobial_properties_of_copper

I have decided to use the surgical gloves I have had in the cupboard forever davidstockport. It is not possible for me to wash hands while out working and can't get any gel so next best thing. Yeh people will laugh but if it makes me feel better.......

Lynibis Not much point unless you change the gloves every time you might have come into contact with something that might be contaminated. (the outside of the glove is just as contaminated as your hand).

Nevertheless don't let being laughed at because of any precautions you take stop you - I didn't when I wore the suit I bought from NASA Image

In japan they have imposed a 2 week quarantine for visitors who have travelled from the affected countries, with no exceptions. A lot of people have complained to say it’s unnecessary, but they’ve chosen to do this for the greater good. I guess they still hope to be able to do the Olympics this year
