Should You Tip for a Tattoo?
Ask a Question
Should you tip your tattoo artist?
A friend recently mentioned that they weren't sure whether it was a thing to tip their artist after their first tattoo just like they do their hairdresser.

My answer is why we are tipping at all. People get paid for the job they do so why do some professions expect a tip. If I had the choice I would tip a health worker.

eyeballkerry ive always felt like this as well unless the member of staff goes above and beyond. I know in america the minimum wage is a lot of states is not liveable so that’s why tipping is expected (which is a load of rubbish cause shouldn’t the businesses be paying more then?)
America just seems to be a bad place to be near the bottom of the ladder, I remember reading there was almost no states in the USA where minimum wage will cover your rent.

Ive never tipped a tattoo artist as they are expensive enough already. I’m incredibly lucky to have family who are hairdressers- they will never let me give them money but as i am aware they could be doing someone’s hair who does pay i will always buy them something i know that they like but dont buy for themselves often as they see it as a treat x
As i spend such a lot of time at the doctors or hospitals etc etc I always take something in. I try to get something other than chocolate as they get given a lot of that. The cancer nurses two favourite gifts so far have been a really big basket of fruit and as a friend of mine owns an ice cream van I sent him there (its a small cancer unit) and paid for their treats. He let me have everything at cost and it was free advertising for him too.

I'm covered in tattoos, I don't normally tip them because they are expensive anyway, but did for this one I had a few months back, he only charged me £80, so I gave him £100

martinlufc5637 Thats great work! I'd never thought about tipping after any of mine until this friend mentioned it.

SamGoodship most tattooists ask for deposits by bank transfer, I just normally pay the full amount, so when it's done there is no need to pay anything extra, I only paid this because it was a great offer
