Look on price comparison sites. Make sure you enter accurate details. Also go directly to the company to see if you can get a better deal. Things like how much excess you are willing to pay, of you protect your no claims, what extras you want, will all impact the quote. Sometimes added a driver to the policy, as a new driver, van reduce the quote.

You could also go through a cashback site once you know what cover you want and get some money back that way.

When you get your renewal through from your insurance company phone them up and ask them if it’s the best price you have been given

I as Mrs Craig said the other tip always get quotes in afternoon s for the cheapest possible price our insurance as gone up this year from £201 to £221.18p checked online with other companies some wanting £900 other s wanting £500+ so we sticking with go skippy for £221.18 always found go skippy a good company

Don't drink drive, that makes insurance very expensive!

If you get third party fire and theft instead of fully comp it is usually cheaper, however not always - for some reason fully comp works out cheaper in some places so always check both!

Check the comparison sites and what your existing insurer offers for a renewal. Ways you can make your insurance cheaper (if appropriate for you) are:

Take named drivers off if they don’t need to be on there - they often increase the price even if older/more experienced (worth playing around with prices with and without named drivers at least)

Reduce mileage (estimated miles each year)

Increase voluntary excess (obviously this means you’d pay more in the event of a claim but can make your premium cheaper so something to weigh up)
