Tonight Channel 4 At 8pm A Programme On TEMU

In the News

One of the topics on ITV's This Morning has been about TEMU, that is often posted on LDs, I have never felt happy making a purchase from them, but there is a programme on Channel 4 tonight that maybe any LDs members who do buy should watch??

TheChimp I think it should make an interesting watch, and there is always catch up if people can't get to a TV for 8pm, that comes in handy some times! 😉 x

I know many of their products can be very dangerous including anything with liquids or fabrics even a cause of cancer as Korean scientists examined many of their products and found very dangerous chemicals in them. If you ever buy clothes from Temu always wash probably twice before wearing and never buy cosmetics or medication obviously. It is a personal import if you buy from them so outside the normal certification system of products sold in the UK. 8pm?

BonzoBanana Heard from a YT video that they use child labor which isn't surprising given the extremely low prices.

BonzoBanana Yes I did hear the word toxic a couple of times 😱, I dread to think what else will be exposed, but don't think I have a life of leisure and sit down and watch TV in the mornings, feet up eating ice cream, I have a TV in the kitchen and listen to it like a radio! 😂 x

Temu/Shein are a bit like AliExpress - the reason the prices are so so so cheap is because the items are sent directly from where they’re produced (often China & surrounding areas) and they’re shipped at the cheapest ‘economy’ speed which is why the shipping also takes forever. Some products are a little rough - but that’s the same wherever you buy things - even on Amazon! It’s the same with the ‘TikTok Shop’ craze, too. Some good products, but just be careful what you’re buying, and know that while it’s cheap, it’ll take a while to arrive, and may not be the most perfect product (and returns/refunds are limited).

egvickers Somewhat.

TEMU makes it feel like it's a game/gambling with cheap products.

I just prefer AliExpress and if I want an even cheaper price? Make a new account for new user discount.

egvickers It used to be that the Chinese government would allow Chinese sellers to ship items for free as part of the export drive and then when it gets to the UK our own postal service foots the bill for transport from the port to the final address as is normal for international postage. This is for letter post so small items only but letter post is still up to 2Kg I think.

I saw it on This Morning and was enough for me to know I have been right to never buy from them. When is a bargain not a bargain? When it's from Temu!

Lynibis I wouldn't give them my card details in a million years. I don't like the sound of them that's why.

Leannexxx I am guilty of buying a lot of items from them L , but i have saved a small fortune on most compared to even Amazon

I see exactly the same items on Amazon but at twice or sometimes three times the price, i often wonder if they make bulk purchases from them then sell on at inflated prices ?

And what i do like is they give you your money back or credit if you request a refund , credit is instant , so i cannot fault them for this , overall i am happy with my purchases

telmel I'm glad it's working for you and you're happy! I've even seen things on the Tesco website that I've seen on ebay, that come from China, so there's no hope really is there!! 🙄 x

telmel I've bought quite a bit from the past but nothing in the last 6 months to a year. I bought two handheld games consoles from them at different times and each time when they arrived they were a much weaker specification than described so they went back. After that I think I've been blacklisted as don't get any Temu promotional emails now. I guess they expect people to put up with lower spec items than described.

When I turn the tv on later I will look on Channel 4 and set a record. I have order from TEMU and satisfied with my purchase.

I'm 54 years old, survived a heart attack, am now in constant pain due to disability which will not improve and is simply a case of taking more and stronger pain killers over the next however long. I do buy from Temu at least once a month, I do not worry about the dangers so much for obvious reasons. I am grateful I can spend £15 on bits and bobs to cheer myself up and it doesn't break the bank.

EmmaWright762 Your comment makes me realise how petty I am when complaining of my little aches and pains, which are all part of being 70. I wish you all good wishes and hope that maybe in the near future medical science can help you 🤗

Man, there are so many on YT who already covered TEMU there's hardly any point to watch a Live TV channel for that.

What is the nature of the show, is it an expose or just a general thing on how it works etc?

Its all a gamble. Even the large chains have been found to use slave labour. To me temu is a bit overwhelming- getting emails through telling me i can have £200 of products free etc etc.

Amazon aren’t always the cheapest though - i also can’t understand why after you have purchased something in particular- say a toaster - amazon then bombard you with good offers on toasters. ! Ive just bought one why would I want another?

Must watch it on Catch up. I’ve bought lots of stuff from Temu and rarely been disappointed. I’ve actually bought stuff from Temu and it was delivered from Amazon which shocked me. It just shows that there’s stuff on Temu that’s also on Amazon but at a higher inflated price

chele44 Years ago, whenever I made a purchase from Amazon (it was based in Luxembourg and tax free) everything I purchased was dirt cheap. For example, HP 21 Printer Cartridge £7.99-£9.99 each), whereas Currys, Tesco and others were charging between (£14.99-19.99 each). Now Amazon is dearer than Home Bargain and B&M. I won't be watching Temu because I have only read negative stories about them. That tells me everything I need to know about them.

I had planned to watch this but our TV decided to break yesterday evening. I've never bought anything from them and I don't intend to. I was wary of them from the start. I don't order from Shein or Aliexpress, but I know they are popular too.

There is always a price being paid for cheap stuff, either it's poor quality or child slave labour, my wife only uses Shein now

martinlufc5637 I think Shein is just as bad as Temu. If I am not mistaken, they are both online rivals selling low-cost goods.
