Traffic Jams

Why do people constantly beep their horns if they are sat in a traffic jam? Do they think that by doing that all the traffic will suddenly disappear?

Ive never understood that

I think it is just out of frustration. Or perhaps they think that the car in front isn't moving fast enough when you are able to go. I remember we were driving back from a day out and we were going through a town near us that is well known for a being a bottleneck. Woman behind my husband was getting annoyed that she wasn't going anywhere fast and she honked her horn at my husband. This led to my husband letting every car that needed out of a junction or to turn into a street go through.

Beep hirns or tailgate. As if either will make the traffic move faster. It takes me laugh when people tailgate when you can see what's going on further down the road. I go slower.

Some people don't have any patience, I hate traffic jams, but I don't think I've beeped my horn, it doesn't get you anywhere quicker

I agree never understood and it just makes everyone annoyed, even if people are taking a while to get moving it’s a traffic jam, it’s not as if anyone’s getting anywhere quickly
